SUMMARY:'Caregiving' with Ryan Shazier Fund
DESCRIPTION:Join former Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier for an exclusive ‘Caregiving’ screening!\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBuy Tickets Here!\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nThe Lindsay has partnered with WQED and the Ryan Shazier Fund for Spinal Rehabilitation to bring back Caregiving during National Family Caregivers Month. \n\n\n\nThe PBS documentary Caregiving returns to The Lindsay on Wednesday\, Nov. 19\, at 7 p.m. We will show the full-length version of director Chris Durrance’s inspirational film. \n\n\n\nThis event will also include a 6:30 p.m. reception in The Lindsay’s Community Room\, sponsored by the Richard King Mellon Foundation. Shazier\, a former Steelers linebacker\, will attend the reception and introduce the screening. Tickets are available for $8.75. \n\n\n\nThis Caregiving screening was conceived as an evening of warmth\, camaraderie and recognition for all caregivers. Shazier and members of his organization will be on hand to thank caregivers for their amazing work and dedication. \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nCaregiving was produced by Bradley Cooper\, who also appears in the film\, and narrated by Emmy winner Uzo Aduba. Both acclaimed actors have served as caregivers for a sick parent. Caregiving highlights the many challenges and triumphs that those caring for a sick parent or loved one experience every day. \n\n\n\nSome of the caregivers featured in this film include a young father caring for both his wife and son; a 14-year-old who\, along with his father\, shares the role of caregiver for his mom; and a young woman looking after her dementia-stricken father. \n\n\n\nShazier is an Ohio State University graduate who the Steelers picked 15th overall in the 2014 NFL Draft. He made two Pro Bowls with the Steelers\, but his career was abruptly ended after suffering a spinal contusion during a game in December 2017. Shazier officially retired from the NFL in September 2020. \n\n\n\nAfter 130 spinal rehabilitation sessions\, Shazier not only gained back the strength to walk\, but he was able to dance with his wife at their wedding. He founded the Shazier Fund in November 2020. Shazier currently serves as the president and board chairman for this nonprofit dedicated to ensuring SCI (spinal cord injury) patients have access to the treatments they need.

This will be the fifth time that The Lindsay is participating in Three Rivers\, which was recently crowned this region’s Best Film Festival in Pittsburgh Magazine‘s 2025 Best of the ‘Burgh readers’ poll. \n\n\n\nLast year’s Three Rivers offerings at The Lindsay included Western Pennsylvania-made gems Basic Psych and The Great One. We also showed Flow\, which went on to win Best Animated Feature at the Academy Awards. \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nTickets are now on sale for all individual Three Rivers screenings\, as well as full festival and other passes. You can purchase tickets online via Film Pittsburgh’s website\, and at The Lindsay on the day of each screening. (In Irish\, with subtitles)\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nAontas received Best Feature and Best Director honors at the 2025 Manchester Film Festival. This international crime thriller follows three women who rob an Irish Credit Union. Their heist goes horribly wrong\, and everyone involved can only reflect on the choices and events that drove these women to their fates. \n\n\n\n“Aontas features some terrific performances from stalwarts Carrie Crowley and Brid Brennan\,” raves Screen International. Director Damian McCann made “a thoroughly gripping and exceptional film\,” declares Film Threat. \n\n\n\n“Aontas is a rare gem—a thriller that leaves you on the edge of your seat as the revelations spool out\, but also a masterwork of film construction and craft.” \n\n\n\n\nTickets and Showtime for Aontas\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMistura\n\n\n\nNR | 1h 37min | Drama \n\n\n\nDirector: Ricardo de Montreuil \n\n\n\nStars: Barbara Mori\, Cesar Ballumbrosio\, Christian Meier \n\n\n\nFriday\, Nov. 14 @ 7 P.M. (In Spanish\, with subtitles)\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nMistura is a festival circuit favorite\, having already been awarded the Jury Award for Best Narrative Feature at the Durango Independent Film Festival\, Sarasota Film Festival and Stony Brook Film Festival. Set in 1960s Peru\, it chronicles a formerly privileged woman’s culinary journey following a change in her societal status. \n\n\n\nDirector Ricardo de Montreuil gives audiences “a delicious look at Peru\,” praises We Live Entertainment. Mistura is “a vivid tale of self-discovery and change\,” applauds Loud and Clear Reviews. \n\n\n\n“De Montreuil paints this transformation against the beautiful backdrop of Peru\, with breathtaking cinematography that captures every detail. … These visuals are more than just beautiful; they feel alive\, showcasing Peru in a way that feels both intimate and grand.” \n\n\n\n\nTickets and Showtime for Mistura\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Fisherman\n\n\n\nNR | 1h 48min | Comedy\, Fantasy \n\n\n\nDirector: Zoey Martinson \n\n\n\nStars: Ricky Adelayitar\, Endurance Dedzo\, William Lamptey \n\n\n\nSaturday\, Nov. 15 @ 4 P.M.\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThe Fisherman is a Ghanaian film that recently won the Grand Jury Award for Best Feature at the Cordillera International Film Festival. This heartwarming and surreal romp finds a retired fisherman embarking on an unexpected adventure with a talking fish. \n\n\n\nDirector Zoey Martinson’s film “has a lovely musical opening” and “some first-rate snappy dialogue\,” lauds RogerEbert.com. “The dialogue is delightfully wacky\,” and “the earnestness of the story will have you chuckling and smirking in no time\,” proclaims Sinema Focus. \n\n\n\n“Ultimately\, The Fisherman feels first like a recognition\, then a reconciliation between past and present for its protagonist and his family. The ending is more emotionally satisfying because it honors the core of this ethos.”  \n\n\n\n\nTickets and Showtime for The Fisherman\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTransplant\n\n\n\nNR | 1h 33min | Drama\, Thriller \n\n\n\nDirector: Jason Park \n\n\n\nStars: Bill Camp\, Eric Nam\, Laurence Leboeuf \n\n\n\nSaturday\, Nov. 15 @ 7 P.M.\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nTransplant is filmmaker Jason Park’s feature directorial debut. It stars Eric Nam as Jonah\, a highly motivated surgical resident. Jonah is pushed to his limits after landing a coveted spot training under Dr. Edward Harmon (Bill Camp)\, a legendary heart transplant surgeon who’s obsessed with protecting his perfect reputation. \n\n\n\n“Medical students everywhere will likely feel vindicated at how their vocations’ unique struggles are rendered with uncomfortable accuracy” in Transplant\, commends the Chicago Reader. Park’s medical thriller is “a meet cute between Whiplash and Grey’s Anatomy\,” writes RogerEbert.com. \n\n\n\n“The film lands the former’s nose-to-the-grindstone protege\, but graciously lacks the melodrama of the latter. … Park’s crowning achievement in Transplant is his ability to craft a diverse\, but balanced tone throughout the story. “ \n\n\n\n\nTickets and Showtime for Transplant\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFor Worse\n\n\n\nNR | 1h 30min | Romantic Comedy \n\n\n\nDirector: Amy Landecker \n\n\n\nStars: Amy Landecker\, Bradley Whitford\, Nico Hiraga \n\n\n\nSunday\, Nov. 16 @ 3 P.M.\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nFor Worse is a new rom com from writer-director Amy Landecker\, who is mostly known for her acting work in projects such as the Coen Brothers’ dramedy A Serious Man and the Prime Video series Transparent. Landecker also stars in For Worse as a newly sober divorcee who starts a new fling with a younger man. \n\n\n\nHer film also stars Bradley Whitford (The West Wing)\, and “their chemistry feels immediate\, loose with warmth and crackling with possibility\,” declares The Hollywood Reporter. “Amy Landecker’s thoughtful and deeply feminine debut celebrates new beginnings at any age\,” raves Variety. \n\n\n\n“Landecker’s comedy carves its own meaningful spot among recent releases about mature women seeking new directions. … The heroine of it all is Landecker herself\, who plays Lauren with gusto as a woman who increasingly owns up to her well-earned age and enduring sexuality.” \n\n\n\n\nTickets and Showtime for For Worse\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Tallest Dwarf\n\n\n\nNR | 1h 32min | Documentary \n\n\n\nDirector: Julie Wyman \n\n\n\nSunday\, Nov. 16 @ 6 P.M.\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThe Three Rivers Film Festival is screening The Tallest Dwarf ahead of its PBS Independent Lens debut on April 6\, 2026. This riveting documentary charts filmmaker Julie Wyman’s quest to find her place within the little people (LP) community at a moment when dwarf identity is poised to radically change. \n\n\n\nWyman crafted an “extremely compelling” examination of how dwarfism has been viewed and how it’s perceived today\, applauds Cultress. The Tallest Dwarf “shows the power of body acceptance” in any community\, proclaims Forbes. \n\n\n\n“In the film\, Wyman explores the diverse experiences of LPs through both in-depth interviews and movement-based workshops captured on film. The Tallest Dwarf asks the viewer to consider important questions\, like\, ‘What if the culture created pathways for LPs to love and accept their bodies?'” \n\n\n\n\nTickets and Showtime for The Tallest Dwarf

SUMMARY:Center for Hope Food Drive
DESCRIPTION:Support a local food pantry this holiday season!\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis year\, The Lindsay is collecting nonperishables for the food pantry at The Center for Hope\, an Ambridge nonprofit that has been meeting growing demands. Through New Year’s Eve\, The Lindsay will gather food donations. \n\n\n\n“Theater patrons have been immensely generous with the food drives we’ve held in the past\,” says Lindsay CEO Carolina Pais-Barreto Thor. “Center for Hope has been a long-time partner of the Theater\, and we want to step up during this time of scarcity.” \n\n\n\nThe Center for Hope welcomes donations of any non-expired\, nonperishable foods. Director Sue Otto suggests: cereal\, macaroni and cheese\, ramen noodles\, canned tuna and chicken\, and saltine or oyster crackers for soup. However\, they would be grateful for “pretty much anything off the grocery shelves.” \n\n\n\nContributions can be dropped off when you come to watch films at the Theater during its operating hours through the week and on weekends\, which are 30 minutes before the day’s shows begin through when the last show is seated. Alternatively\, bring a few cans and boxes when you watch Nuremberg this weekend—or later\, when you visit us to check out Wicked: For Good\, Zootopia 2\, Holiday Classics or any films in our lineup. \n\n\n\nDemand at the Center is “through the roof\,” with 1\,100 people served in October alone\, says Otto\, director since 2007. She has seen many new faces at the Center this fall\, including military\, federal workers and senior citizens. \n\n\n\nNot only are some out of work\, “it’s also at a time when people are getting slammed with higher prices on everything. They’re crying\, desperate on the phone and I tell them\, ‘Hey\, we’re here for you.’ We’re open to everyone.” \n\n\n\nIn addition to the food pantry\, the Center supplies Hungry Kids Snack Bags to children in the food pantry and families requesting the extra help through Ambridge Area School District\, providing 3\,600 snack bags in October to help fill young bellies over the weekend\, when school meals are not available.

SUMMARY:Emerging Filmmakers Showcase: 'MAXX: SON OF THE DAMNED'
DESCRIPTION:The Lindsay’s only November Emerging Filmmakers Showcase is the perfect way to close out the Halloween season! \n\n\n\nMaxx: Son of the Damned is a locally made fantasy saga from Pittsburgh-based 3.B.T. Productions. This dark coming-of-age tale is centered around Maxx (Caleb Bartholow)\, the first natural-born warlock in centuries\, and the evil forces who want to use his powers for mass destruction. \n\n\n\nAn early version of this film will screen at The Lindsay on Thursday\, Nov. 6\, at 7 p.m. This showing will be immediately followed by a filmmaker Q&A. The event is free\, and The Lindsay recommends that all attendees use the form below to RSVP in advance due to space limitations. \n\n\n\nMaxx: Son of the Damned was written and directed by 3.B.T. co-founders Xayne Allen and Delaney Hathaway. Following his 21st birthday\, Maxx discovers that Eve (Amy Lyn Elliott)\, the first woman\, and her followers want to use his magical abilities to bring about the apocalypse. With Maxx’s haunting past catching up with him\, will he choose to save humanity or destroy it? \n\n\n\n“This film is the perfect way to close out spooky season\,” says Allen. “It’s dark\, thrilling and packed with that eerie magic that lingers long after the credits roll.” \n\n\n\nHathaway and fellow 3.B.T. co-founder Charlie Gray both appear in Maxx: Son of the Damned. The largely local cast also includes Christina Chickis\, Stephanie Swift\, Brian Ceponis\, Naomi Terrell and Erika Krenn. \n\n\n\n“Fans of indie cinema should be thrilled to join us for this special first look\,” says Allen. “They’ll get to experience the film before it’s complete and play a part in shaping its final cut alongside the cast and crew.” \n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n Emerging Filmmakers Showcase MAXX: SON OF THE DAMNED November 6\, 2025 Reservation Sign Up\n \n \n CommentsThis field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.Name(Required)\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Number of Tickets(Required)Phone Number(Required)Email(Required)\n \n Any Special Accommodations (Seating Accessibility\, etc.)?\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nClick Me!

SUMMARY:Emerging Filmmakers Showcase: 'BATSH*T'
DESCRIPTION:The Lindsay is celebrating Halloween this year with an Emerging Filmmakers Showcase that’s chock-full of locally made frights and delights. \n\n\n\nBatsh*t is an indie horror-comedy that was inspired by genre favorites like Evil Dead\, Beetlejuice and A Nightmare on Elm Street. It follows an alcoholic who accidentally takes a hallucinatory drug and enters a nightmarish new world. \n\n\n\nThe Lindsay will be showing Batsh*t on Thursday\, Oct. 30\, at 7 p.m. This screening will be immediately followed by an in-person Q&A with director and co-writer Todd Wolfson\, star Jerry Pietrala and editor Karl O’Janpa. The event is free\, and The Lindsay recommends that all attendees use the form below to RSVP in advance due to space limitations. \n\n\n\nWolfson\, a Pittsburgh native and founder of production company Just Buried Entertainment\, is making his feature directorial debut with Batsh*t. The film stars Pietrala as Felix Darby\, a lost soul on a mind-altering journey. Along the way\, Felix encounters oddities such as a friend talking in tongues\, his roommate turning into an 8-bit character\, a talking killer cherry pie\, being haunted by his own ghost and much more. \n\n\n\nWolfson has been working on BatSh*t since 2018. He co-wrote the script with David Ogrodowski\, a veteran local filmmaker and actor who also appears in the film. The largely Western Pennsylvania-based cast also includes Tiffany Kemp\, Mikhail Tot\, Edward Pfeifer\, Nexus Lyons\, Samantha Ainsworth\, Brian Ceponis and Ben Dietels. \n\n\n\nBatsh*t is a mostly live-action film that also contains wild sequences involving both 2D and 3D animation\, stop-motion effects\, claymation—and even puppets! Be prepared for what Wolfson describes as a “very zany and original” cinematic experience. \n\n\n\n“This is a very important film to me\,” Wolfson says. “It’s jam-packed with a lot of Pittsburgh’s most talented actors. Batsh*t is a wildly entertaining dark comedy with a fantasy twist\, and it’s extremely independent to the core!” \n\n\n\n\n \n \n Emerging Filmmakers Showcase BATSH*T October 30\, 2025 Reservation Sign Up\n \n \n CommentsThis field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.Name(Required)\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Number of Tickets(Required)Phone Number(Required)Email(Required)\n \n Any Special Accommodations (Seating Accessibility\, etc.)?\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nClick Me!

It follows a young man facing extraordinary challenges during a brothel visit. \n\n\n\n• The Convent\, directed by Cole Rawson\, is a horror-thriller about a girl going through immense effort to convince a ritualistic cult that she still remains faithful. \n\n\n\n• Mallory is director Jaime Meyers’ portrait of a man who learns that some things should remain hidden while searching for his missing daughter. \n\n\n\n\nTickets for Bizarre Bazaar Block\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGrind\n\n\n\n8 p.m. | 1h 24min | Horror\n\n\n\nDirector: Mark Cantu\n\n\n\nStars: Kelsey Rhea\, Brian Ceponis\, Molly Souza\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nFans of locally made horror may recognize Pittsburgh-based filmmaker Mark Cantu as the director of 2021 slasher Massacre Academy and 2023 creature feature Wolf Hollow. \n\n\n\nHis latest project\, Grind\, is a horror-thriller about a group of college students who accidentally unleash cosmic horror after unearthing a cursed movie during a grindhouse film festival. All it took was pressing play on The Creeping Chaos to release uncontrollable mayhem. \n\n\n\nCantu co-wrote the script for Grind with Brian Bell and Brian Ceponis. Ceponis\, a local actor and co-founder of Western Pennsylvania production company RedSlate Films\, co-stars alongside a cast that also includes Kelsey Rhea\, Molly Souza and Stanton Rutledge. \n\n\n\n\nTickets for Grind\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOCT. 3 SHOWTIMES AND TICKETS \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nKick the Can\n\n\n\n11 a.m. | 1h 30min | Comedy\, Crime\n\n\n\nDirector: Jim Menza\n\n\n\nStars: Kristin Auge\, Jack Burr\, Niko Caponigro\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nKick the Can is a lighthearted crime comedy from writer-director Jim Menza. The title evokes both a classic children’s game and a renowned episode of The Twilight Zone. This Milknose Films production comes with a tantalizing tagline: “Some games\, you play for keeps.” \n\n\n\nThe film is centered around a man who sets out on a 24-hour adventure to save a woman’s life. Along the way\, he meets a plethora of chaotic characters and finds himself in consistently strange situations. \n\n\n\n\nTickets for Kick the Can\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHitman: The Slaughter\n\n\n\n12:40 p.m. | 1h 28min | Thriller\, Crime\n\n\n\nDirector: Seth Nardo\n\n\n\nStars: Ian Falcone\, Frank Ripoly\, Steve Nardo\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThis crime-thriller’s title is also a pretty good description of what’s in store for moviegoers. Director Seth Nardo’s film follows a group of dangerous individuals as they engage in … well\, the things hitmen do. \n\n\n\nNardo is a 24-year-old Ohioan making his directorial debut with Hitman: The Slaughter. Between the film’s content\, its setting and colorful characters\, a good alternate title for this film may have been Once Upon a Time in Ohio. \n\n\n\n\nTickets for Hitman: The Slaughter\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Muscle\n\n\n\n2:20 p.m. | 1h 20min | Thriller\, Crime\n\n\n\nDirector: Ryan Halasz\n\n\n\nStars: Ryan Halasz\, Stephen Caruso\, Eric Cerbo\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Muscle is another-crime thriller that would make a great double feature with Hitman: The Slaughter. Ryan Halasz wrote\, directed and stars in this film about a guy with a big heart who gets caught up in a life of crime. \n\n\n\nRon (Halasz) witnesses a murder\, which eventually leads to him discovering the truth about his father’s death. It’s far beyond what Ron could have ever imagined. He must choose revenge or forgiveness—even as he grapples with some pretty extreme violations of trust. \n\n\n\n\nTickets for The Muscle\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFrenzy Moon\n\n\n\n3:50 p.m. | 1h 21min | Horror\n\n\n\nStars: Alyssa Grace Adams\, Aaron Krygier\, Kayla Malika\n\n\n\nDirector: Gregory Lamberson\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nYou probably could’ve guessed by the title that this is an old-fashioned werewolf flick. Gregory Lamberson wrote and directed this creature feature about six graduate students and a mysterious stranger battling a pack of ferocious man-beasts in a secluded cabin. \n\n\n\n\nTickets for Frenzy Moon\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDark Funhouse Block\n\n\n\n5:20 p.m. | 2h 2min\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nHorror fans\, this is the short film block for you! \n\n\n\n• Bealtaine: Two otherworldly companions entertain a special guest as they celebrate their annual Celtic tradition of Bealtaine. Directed by Naomi Wildermuth. \n\n\n\n• Crisis Point (from Romania): A former soldier travels through a toxic post-apocalyptic environment in search of a cure for a virus that strips the afflicated of their humanity. Directed by Valentin Raileanu. \n\n\n\n• The Balloon: A downtrodden mechanic lives in a deteriorating paradigm\, but there is more than meets the eye when the past and present converge. Romero Foundation\, is the daughter of late Night of the Living Dead auteur George Romero. \n\n\n\nHer latest directorial effort recently won an Audience Award for Best Narrative Film at the Tribeca Film Festival. Director Mike Davis recycled footage from more than 300 stock and public domain films and injected his creation with brand new storylines and dialogue. \n\n\n\nThis sci-fi satire follows a rogue FBI agent who is forced to partner with the United States Army to defeat the Ku Klux Plan. In an attempt to go mainstream\, the KKK has modernized and gone high tech with flashy new promotional videos\, clothing and an evil plot to plunge the country into a race war—with a shrink ray. \n\n\n\n“I made this film as if it was the last one I’d ever do\,” says Davis. “It’s a comedy\, a satire\, a surreal absurdity\, and ideally an inspiration to independent filmmakers and creators everywhere who are working with limited resources and great imaginations.” \n\n\n\n\nTickets for Dead\, White and Blue\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWeird Adventures Block\n\n\n\n11:40 a.m. | 1h 51min\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThis shorts block is a fun mix of live-action and animated fare: \n\n\n\n• Boxes for Rox (animation): Awareness is the first phase. SUMMARY:Pittsburgh Silent Film Festival: 'Ben-Hur'
DESCRIPTION:Watch this 1925 biblical epic\, accompanied by live piano music\, at The Lindsay! \n\n\n\n\n\n\nBuy Tickets Here!\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nThe Pittsburgh Silent Film Society returns to The Lindsay in September with a century-old classic full of drama\, romance and epic chariot races. \n\n\n\nBen-Hur will play at The Lindsay on Sunday\, Sept. 28\, at 7 p.m.\, as part of the third annual Pittsburgh Silent Film Festival. This screening will be accompanied by live piano music\, courtesy of local composer Tyler Stoner. Tickets are available for $11. \n\n\n\nBen-Hur was directed by Fred Niblo and stars Ramon Novarro as Judah Ben-Hur\, an aristocrat-turned-slave who is unjustly imprisoned by a former friend. \n\n\n\nA slip of a brick during a Roman parade causes Judah to be sent off as a galley slave\, his property confiscated and his mother and sister imprisoned. Years later\, Judah returns to his homeland an exalted and wealthy Roman athlete. Unable to find his mother and sister\, and believing them dead\, he can think of nothing else than revenge. \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThe film’s cast also includes Francis X. Bushman as Roman officer Messala; Claire McDowell as Miriam\, Judah’s mother; Kathleen Key as Tirzah\, Judah’s sister; and May McAvoy as Esther\, a merchant’s daughter. \n\n\n\nThe Lindsay has been hosting Pittsburgh Silent Film Festival screenings since its inception in 2023. That year\, the Theater showed the 1920 silent horror film The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. In 2024\, the Pittsburgh Silent Film Society brought fellow Robert Wiene film The Hands of Orlac to the Sewickley nonprofit theater. \n\n\n\nChad Hunter\, the Pittsburgh Silent Film Society’s founder\, reminds silent film aficionados that the Library of Congress added Ben-Hur to the National Film Registry in 1997 because it “had such a tremendous influence on filmmakers of the day.” \n\n\n\n“In this year’s festival\, Ben-Hur is one of just a couple titles that are rarely screened or seen anymore\,” Hunter says. “Seeing this film in a theater\, on the big screen\, with live piano accompaniment by Tyler Stoner\, is an opportunity not to be missed!”

Dr. Randall recruits a team to help her navigate the cutthroat world of health-ethics debates and (hopefully) earn the medical establishment’s approval to validate her findings. \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThe main cast also includes Kovitz\, Dominique Brock\, Daniel Klein\, Lisa Ann Goldsmith and Ken Bolden. \n\n\n\nKovitz is an actor\, writer\, musician\, producer and award-winning filmmaker. The Filmworks of Max Cianci will exclusively screen at The Lindsay on Thursday\, July 17\, at 7 p.m. This event is free\, but RSVPs are recommended. The evening will include a few Cianci-directed commercials\, three narrative short films\, a proof-of-concept short\, and an in-person Q&A with Cianci. \n\n\n\n\n\nCianci will unveil his proof of concept short film\, Tiny Toe. This is a short that he intends to make into a larger project. It follows a hunter who discovers an unusual creature in one of his traps. His hope is to create something that stands amongst the great lineage of creature and monster filmmaking here in Pittsburgh. \n\n\n\nThis event will also be the rare chance to see two other Cianci shorts on the big screen: 2020’s Loopy: A Quarantine Short Film\, co-directed by and starring Cianci\, is about a man investigating a seemingly abandoned building; and 2021’s The Sale\, about two thieves who get more than they bargained for during a looting run. Loopy was selected for over twenty film festivals during its run\, including the National Film Festival for Talented Youth (NFFTY). The Sale received the Audience Choice Award at Pittsburgh Short’s Thriller Chiller screening. \n\n\n\nHe will also screen Crypt\, a 48 Hour Film Project production that won Best Cinematography\, Best Actress\, and Audience Choice. Crypt follows a woman who must escape after she wakes up during the process of being mummified. Cianci and his team created this film completely over the course of a single weekend.

This 50-minute feature follows two best friends with opposing dispositions on a journey of self-discovery over one particularly eventful night. \n\n\n\nZazu’s film will premiere at The Lindsay on Monday\, July 14\, at 7 p.m. Tickets are free\, but RSVPs are recommended. Though it’s not required\, Zazu would love if all attendees dressed in formal attire. The film will be followed by an in-person Q&A with Zazu\, stars Kain Davis and McKenna Howell\, director of photography Steven Croner\, and first assistant director Sophia Beigi. \n\n\n\nDavis stars as Richie Hilton\, a privileged but insecure aspiring real estate professional. Richie’s best friend\, Tanner (Robert Starzynski)\, is more playful and grounded. Tanner is generally amused by Richie’s behavior\, but his erratic tendencies have increasingly become a source of exasperation. \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThe main cast also includes Howell\, David Ogrodowski\, Alyssa Wenzel and Mya Favata. Ogrodowski\, a prolific Pittsburgh actor\, also produced Zazu’s feature directorial debut. \n\n\n\nZazu has been directing\, writing and editing films for the last eight years. The Milwaukee native moved to Pittsburgh in 2022 and quickly began churning out short films like Purple and 80 Grand. Zazu finds purpose in connecting with people and working closely with actors to bring his stories to life.

SUMMARY:'Caregiving'
DESCRIPTION:Bradley Cooper produced this film about the joys and struggles of life as a full-time caregiver.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRSVP Here!\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Lindsay\, WQED and Comfort Keepers are partnering to show a new PBS documentary about the triumphs and challenges of being a caregiver. \n\n\n\nCaregiving spotlights the stories of everyday folks—both paid and unpaid—as they navigate the rewarding and exhausting work inherent in caring for ill or aging loved ones. It was produced by Oscar nominee Bradley Cooper and narrated by Emmy winner Uzo Aduba\, who both served as caregivers for a sick parent. \n\n\n\nThe Lindsay is showing Caregiving on Thursday\, June 26\, at 7 p.m. The 30-minute screening will be preceded by a reception in the Theater’s Community Room from 6-7 p.m. and followed by a Q&A with local experts in caregiving and at-home care. \n\n\n\nThis event is free\, but RSVPs are required. It is being co-sponsored by Comfort Keepers\, an organization providing in-home care to communities across Western Pennsylvania\, and WQED\, Pittsburgh’s PBS affiliate that also recently collaborated with The Lindsay on the public premiere of the documentary Steel Links. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nCaregiving largely focuses on the experiences of six family and professional caregivers. The featured caregivers include Matthew\, a young father caring for both his wife and son; Jacob\, a 14-year-old who\, along with his father\, shares the role of caregiver for his mom; Tracy\, a young woman looking after her dementia-stricken father; and Zulma\, a paid home health aide with a family of her own. \n\n\n\n“Making this film has been an inspiring and humbling experience\,” says Chris Durrance\, the film’s director and senior producer. “We have come to appreciate that every family has a care story and we hope that this film inspires viewers to share their own\, building new communities of care that will bring us all closer together.” \n\n\n\nThose care stories extend to Hollywood stars Cooper (Silver Linings Playbook) and Aduba (Orange is the New Black). The film was partially inspired by Cooper’s experiences taking care of his late father\, who had lung cancer. “Their ability to focus and give all of themselves is something that I stand in awe of\,” Cooper says during Caregiving in regards to his fellow caregivers. \n\n\n\nAduba played a similar role for her late mother\, who died in 2020 after a 495-day battle with pancreatic cancer. “I belong to the caregiving community\,” she told USA Today. She hopes that Caregiving serves as “a reminder that every single one of us is touched by the need for care.”

SUMMARY:'The Piano Lesson'
DESCRIPTION:Commemorate Juneteenth with this gripping adaptation of August Wilson’s Pittsburgh-set play.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBuy Tickets Here\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThe Lindsay is partnering with the Sewickley Community Center’s Juneteenth Committee for a special presentation of The Piano Lesson in observance of Juneteenth. \n\n\n\nThis screening will take place on Thursday\, June 19\, at 7:15 p.m. General admission tickets are on sale for $11. \n\n\n\nThe Piano Lesson is a 2024 cinematic reinvention of Pittsburgh playwright August Wilson’s groundbreaking 1987 play. This supernaturally tinged tale is set in 1930s Pittsburgh and follows the brewing conflict between two siblings with vastly different ideas about what to do with an heirloom piano that physically displays their enslaved ancestors’ stories. \n\n\n\nThis take on the Pulitzer Prize-winning play is the third Wilson adaptation produced by Denzel Washington\, following 2016’s Fences and 2020’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. The Piano Lesson was a family affair: It stars John David Washington\, Denzel’s eldest son\, and was the feature directorial debut of Malcolm Washington\, the Oscar winner’s youngest son. \n\n\n\nThe film also stars Samuel L. Jackson\, Danielle Deadwyler\, Ray Fisher\, Michael Potts\, Corey Hawkins and Skylar Aleece Smith. The Piano Lesson currently holds a cumulative critics’ score of 88% on Rotten Tomatoes. \n\n\n\n“The Piano Lesson brings another powerful August Wilson play to the screen\,” raves The Wrap. “With performances that will resonate and a directorial debut that will not soon be forgotten\, The Piano Lesson is a lesson in love\, friendship and family.”

SUMMARY:'Steel Links' Public Premiere and Q&A
DESCRIPTION:The Lindsay is partnering with WQED to show a new documentary about golf’s deep roots in Pittsburgh.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBuy Tickets Here!\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nSteel Links is an hour-long WQED documentary chronicling Pittsburgh’s industrial roots and its rise to the forefront of technology\, culture and sports—including golf. \n\n\n\nThe film will play at The Lindsay on Sunday\, June 8\, at 5 p.m. and Monday\, June 9\, at 7 p.m. The June 8 showing is sold out\, but general admission tickets for the June 9 event are on sale for $11. Both screenings are taking place ahead of the film’s WQED broadcast premiere on June 10 at 9 p.m. and before Oakmont hosts its 10th U.S. Open from June 12-15.  \n\n\n\nThroughout the film\, former Pirate Neil Walker leads viewers on this heartfelt tour of the Western Pennsylvania he knows and loves. Walker also will be present at the Theater on June 8 for a live Q&A following the screening. There will also be an in-person Q&A after the June 9 show. \n\n\n\nIn addition to Walker\, Steel Links features segments with former Steelers Coach Bill Cowher; former Steelers quarterback Charlie Batch; rapper and Pittsburgh native Wiz Khalifa; professional golfer and Greensburg native Rocco Mediate; World Golf Hall of Famer and Sewickley native/resident Carol Semple Thompson; and other local luminaries representing various facets of Pittsburgh. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“Steel Links pays homage to a city of grit\, resilience and reinvention\,” says Jason Jedlinski\, WQED’s president and CEO. “It’s both a tribute to our past and a reflection of our future\, chronicling the legacy and evolution of the Oakmont Country Club\, the game of golf and Pittsburgh itself. It reminds us what makes Pittsburgh—and its people—so special.”  \n\n\n\nSteel Links was created and executive produced by veteran filmmaker Brad Turkel. He also produced It’s a Beautiful Day in Pinehurst\, a one-hour PBS documentary about that area of North Carolina’s rich cultural and golfing traditions. Turkel’s vision with Steel Links was to do the same for Pittsburgh ahead of the U.S. Open at Oakmont. \n\n\n\nWestern Pennsylvania became Turkel’s “home away from home” after frequent visits to his wife’s hometown. Through Steel Links\, Turkel was able to dive deep into Pittsburgh’s modern tech\, arts\, music and sports scenes. He even united Walker\, Batch\, Mediate and Semple Thompson for 18 holes at Verona’s Long Vue Club. \n\n\n\nIn the film\, “We hear stories sharing their individual experiences with their sports and Pittsburgh\,” Turkel says. “Steel Links is told through the eyes and voices of well-known Pittsburghers. It’s like a love letter to the Pittsburgh that was\, is and continues to transform. \n\n\n\n“We want to showcase all the wonderful towns in and around Pittsburgh\,” Turkel continues. “Premiering at The Lindsay in Sewickley kind of symbolizes everything this doc is about.”

DESCRIPTION:Get ready for the 2025 Academy Awards with some of Pittsburgh’s finest film critics and experts!\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Lindsay Theater and Cultural Center is offering local cinephiles and awards-season enthusiasts a rare opportunity to hear from experts about the 2025 Oscars. \n\n\n\nAmanda Waltz\, Pittsburgh City Paper’s entertainment editor\, will moderate a wide-ranging discussion and Q&A with a panel comprising Pittsburgh Film Critics Association members Lindsey Bahr (Associated Press)\, Sean Collier (Pittsburgh Magazine) and Megan McLachlan (The Contending). Josh Axelrod\, The Lindsay’s Director of Communications and an active PFCA member\, will also be on hand.  \n\n\n\nThis free and non-ticketed event will take place in The Lindsay’s Community Room on Sunday\, Feb. 16\, at 2 p.m. These professional critics and journalists will provide their thoughts on this year’s Oscars race\, films that seem to be over- or underperforming with voters\, their ideal Oscars scenarios and much more. They’ll then take audience questions. \n\n\n\n\nLindsey Bahr has been an Associated Press film critic since 2014. While based in the Pittsburgh area\, Bahr is a regular at Hollywood’s glitziest awards shows. She covered this year’s Golden Globes ceremony and plans to be at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles for the 2025 Oscars.  \n\n\n\nSean Collier is Pittsburgh Magazine’s managing editor and film guru. He’s also a stand-up comic\, co-founder of Vigilance Theater Group\, co-host of The Number One Movie in America podcast\, and a regular on WDVE and Pittsburgh Today Live. \n\n\n\nMegan McLachlan\, a former Awards Daily contributor\, recently co-founded the awards advocacy site The Contending. Her work also has appeared in Buzzfeed\, Cosmopolitan\, The Cut\, Paste\, Thrillist\, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and The Washington Post. \n\n\n\nThe Pittsburgh Film Critics Association\, formed in 2023 by 15 Western Pennsylvania-based critics\, announced its first-ever film awards earlier this year. They collectively crowned The Substance\, a Best Picture nominee at the Oscars\, as 2024’s best picture. \n\n\n\nHearing from these film aficionados might prove helpful to anyone who hasn’t submitted their ballot for The Lindsay’s annual Oscars contest. Completed ballots—available only at the Theater—will be accepted until Saturday\, March 1\, at 8 p.m. The film buff who most accurately predicts the highest number of winners—matching the Academy’s Best Picture—will earn a non-transferable pass for free\, unlimited movies for the rest of 2025!

SUMMARY:First Week-Long Run of Locally Made Thriller Basic Psych
DESCRIPTION:Buy Tickets\n\n\n\n\nBasic Psych\, a Western Pennsylvania-filmed thriller starring Michael Cerveris and David Conrad\, will play for at least a week at The Lindsay Theater and Cultural Center. \n\n\n\nCerveris\, a two-time Tony winner also known for his small-screen work in shows like Mindhunter and The Gilded Age\, stars in Basic Psych as psychiatrist Stuart Prince. Conrad\, a Pittsburgh native and Ghost Whisperer series regular\, plays an enigmatic patient who Dr. Prince begins to suspect may pose a threat to others—including his family. \n\n\n\n\nBasic Psych will open at The Lindsay on Jan. 10 and will run through at least Jan. 16. Tickets are currently on sale and available via The Lindsay’s website. \n\n\n\nThis long-awaited product of the Pittsburgh film industry was directed by Melissa Martin (The Bread\, My Sweet) and penned by Jim Tucker\, a local pediatrician and novelist making his screenwriting debut with Basic Psych. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“It’s a thrill for me to have my first screenplay finally come to the big screen at The Lindsay Theater!” says Tucker. “I am overwhelmed by how marvelous The Lindsay Theater is. I love that it’s a theater that has such terrific audio\, outstanding acoustics and perfect picture quality.” \n\n\n\nProduction on Basic Psych was delayed due to COVID-induced shutdowns and was finally completed in summer 2021. Filming took place all over the region\, from a house in Fox Chapel to La Roche University in McCandless to the former Vessel Studio in the South Side. \n\n\n\n“I’m in love with this city\,” says Martin. “Part of the reason I want to keep making movies is because I want to capture this city on film. We love it so much\, and it’s just beautiful.” \n\n\n\nThe Basic Psych cast also features Siena Goines (Days of Our Lives) and regional acting talent such as Cotter Smith (Unsinkable)\, Patrick Jordan (American Rust) and Carl Clemons (A Man Called Otto). Martin also shouted out locally based Basic Psych cinematographer Jeff Garton (Unsinkable) and the post-production assistance provided by Western Pennsylvania-based companies Red Caiman Studios and PMI Digital. \n\n\n\nBasic Psych premiered last year as part of the 2024 Three Rivers Film Festival. It screened two days later at The Lindsay and quickly sold out. Martin attended that Lindsay screening and thinks it’s “wonderful to have a theater here that participates with independent filmmakers.” \n\n\n\nShe can’t wait for a film that was made in her adopted hometown during a global pandemic to play for an entire week at one of her favorite theaters. \n\n\n\n“It’s a thrill ride!” says Martin. “It’s really important\, just like for us to go to the Steelers and Pirates\, to see what homegrown talent can do in this city. We can make a thing that’s a lot of fun and has a really great story.”

SUMMARY:Holiday Classics at The Lindsay
DESCRIPTION:Season’s greetings! Is it ever too early to start spreading holiday cheer? \n\n\n\nGet ready for two weeks of timeless stories about togetherness\, generosity and keeping your tongue away from frozen poles. \n\n\n\nThe Lindsay will have many flavors of holiday classics on tap this year. Board The Polar Express\, get into shenanigans with Ralphie Parker in A Christmas Story\, hang out with Will Ferrell’s oversized Christmas helper in Elf or join the Griswolds for National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation!  \n\n\n\nInterested in revisiting Hollywood’s Golden Age? Look no further than the trifecta of It’s a Wonderful Life\, White Christmas and We’re No Angels! Don’t forget to mark your calendars for Dec. 21\, which is when we’ll have a sensory friendly Elf screening and Burgh Bus Christmas Vacation event. Tickets are on sale for every holiday classic screening at the links below. We hope to see you at the Theater during the most wonderful time of the year! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIt’s a Wonderful Life\n\n\n\nPG | 2h 10min | Drama\, Fantasy\, Romance\n\n\n\nDirector: Frank Capra\n\n\n\nStars: James Stewart\, Donna Reed\, Lionel Barrymore\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHow many of us can remember a holiday season without It’s a Wonderful Life? That’s a testament to the enduring universality of this beautiful drama about a businessman (Indiana\, Pa.\, native James Stewart) seeing what the world would look like without him. \n\n\n\nAlmost 80 years later\, It’s a Wonderful Life remains “a genuine American classic\,” writes The Guardian. Even in 1946\, critics like The Hollywood Reporter‘s Jack D. Grant realized that director Frank Capra had made a film in which “everyone who sees it will agree that it’s wonderful entertainment.” \n\n\n\n“His direction of the individual characterizations delivered is also distinctively his\, and the performances\, from the starring roles of James Stewart and Donna Reed down to the smallest bit\, are magnificent. When Capra is at his best\, no one can top him.” \n\n\n\n\nTickets and Showtimes for It’s a Wonderful Life\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nElf\n\n\n\nPG | 1h 37min | Comedy\n\n\n\nDirector: Jon Favreau\n\n\n\nStars: Will Ferrell\, James Caan\, Zooey Deschanel\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVery little will get you in the holiday spirit faster than Elf. Director Jon Favreau’s 2003 comedy follows Buddy (Will Ferrell)\, a human raised among Santa’s elves who leaves the North Pole to find his father (James Caan) and remind jaded New Yorkers about the true meaning of Christmas. \n\n\n\nElf is an “irresistibly goofy Christmas comedy” that “takes bold pleasure in unabashed silliness\,” raves Salon. As the New York Post playfully declares: “Yule love it.” \n\n\n\n“Elf is a pleasantly old-fashioned\, gee-whillikers Yuletide confection…Ferrell’s manic\, overgrown-kid energy sweeps all before it\, announcing him as a major leading-man talent who can charm as well as amuse.”The Lindsay will be holding a sensory-friendly Elf screening on Saturday\, Dec. 21\, at 10 a.m. We encourage those who are interested in attending this screening to purchase tickets in advance. \n\n\n\n\nTickets and Showtimes for Elf\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNational Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation\n\n\n\nPG-13 | 1h 37min | Comedy \n\n\n\nDirector: Jeremiah S. Chechick\n\n\n\nStars: Chevy Chase\, Bevery D’Angelo\, Juliette Lewis\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWho could have guessed that Clark Griswold’s (Chevy Chase) grand vision for the perfect Christmas was destined to go delightfully haywire? Well\, just everybody going into National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation who had spent the 1980s laughing along with the Griswolds’ hapless antics. \n\n\n\nChristmas Vacation “may be the only modern Christmas comedy which really stands up to repeat viewings\,” declares Time Out. The third Vacation film finds “Chevy Chase and brood doing what they do best\,” praises Variety. \n\n\n\n“If it doesn’t make you at least giggle\,” adds Empire\, “then you clearly don’t understand the true meaning of the festive season—which is of course combustible toilets and electrified cats.”The Lindsay is collaborating with The Burgh Bus on a Dec. 21 Holiday Ride that will begin with a 6:30 p.m. Burgh Bus tour and culminate in a 7:30 p.m. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation screening. Don’t miss out! \n\n\n\n\nTickets and Showtimes for Christmas Vacation\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe’re No Angels\n\n\n\nNR | 1h 46min | Comedy\, Caper\n\n\n\nDirector: Michael Curtiz\n\n\n\nStars: Humphrey Bogart\, Peter Ustinov\, Aldo Ray\n\n\n\nSINGLE SCREENING on Sunday\, Dec. 15\, at 1 p.m.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Pittsburgh Classic Movie Club returns to The Lindsay for a one-time showing of We’re No Angels\, the 1955 screwball comedy about three escaped convicts who are unexpectedly moved to help a kind shopkeeper and his family. \n\n\n\nWe’re No Angels soars thanks to “Michael Curtiz’s directorial pacing and topflight performances from Humphrey Bogart\, Aldo Ray and Peter Ustinov\,” lauds Variety. This Broadway adaptation is an “assured\, entertaining black comedy” that feels “both warm and sophisticated\,” writes TV Guide. \n\n\n\nBe sure you head over to The Lindsay early on Sunday\, Dec. 15\, for a special introduction from Pittsburgh Classic Movie Club President Wendy Whittick. \n\n\n\n\nTickets for We’re No Angels\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhite Christmas\n\n\n\nNR | 2h 5min | Musical\, Comedy\, Romance\n\n\n\nDirector: Michael Curtiz\n\n\n\nStars: Bing Crosby\, Rosemary Clooney\, Danny Kaye\n\n\n\nLIMITED SCREENINGS: Sunday\, Dec. 15\, at 3:30 p.m. & Monday\, Dec. 16 at 7 p.m.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFathom Events is bringing White Christmas back to theaters for its 70th anniversary! This lavish musical stars Bing Crosby\, Danny Kaye\, Rosemary Clooney and Vera-Ellen as two pairs of traveling performers who combine their talents to save a Vermont inn from closing. \n\n\n\n“With wit\, exuberance\, and some show-stopping hits\, White Christmas is a cracking musical\,” raves BBC. This film is a “cosy crowd-pleaser” with “sumptuous production values\,” commends Total Film. “This was the Mamma Mia! of its day\, a nostalgic blast of popular Irving Berlin show-tunes gift-wrapped in new-fangled VistaVision.” \n\n\n\nPittsburgh Classic Movie Club Vice President Deann Davis will provide a special introduction prior to the Dec. 15 screening. \n\n\n\n\nTickets and Showtimes for White Christmas\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA Christmas Story\n\n\n\nPG | 1h 33min | Comedy\, Family\n\n\n\nDirector: Bob Clark\n\n\n\nStars: Peter Billingsley\, Melinda Dillon\, Darren McGavin\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAll that Ralphie Parker (Peter Billingsley) wants for Christmas is a Red Ryder Range 200 Shot BB gun. A Christmas Story warm-heartedly chronicles his many efforts to convince the many adults in his life—including Santa—to get him a gift that keeps on giving. \n\n\n\nThis 1983 holiday comedy contains “a treasure chest of familiar moments that almost every kid—even those who don’t celebrate Christmas—can relate to\,” writes IGN. A Christmas Story is “family fare to savor” and simply “a joy to the world\,” declares The Washington Post.”If you’re a Christmas holdout\, a true believer who still hears reindeer on the roof\, and even on an unseasonably warm Christmas Eve holds out hope of waking to a yard full of snow and branches coated like velvet antlers\, then A Christmas Story is for you.” \n\n\n\n\nTickets and Showtimes for A Christmas Story\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Polar Express\n\n\n\nG | 1h 40min | Animated\, Adventure\n\n\n\nDirector: Robert Zemeckis\n\n\n\nStars: Tom Hanks\, Peter Scolari\, Nona Gaye\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAll aboard The Polar Express! This adaptation of Chris Van Allsburg’s 1985 children’s book follows a young boy who on Christmas Eve is whisked away for a magical train ride to the North Pole. His unexpected adventure teaches him important lessons about friendship\, bravery and the spirit of Christmas. \n\n\n\nThe Polar Express “is a runaway thrill” full of “rambunctious comedy…which buttresses the story’s sage wisdom\,” writes The Hollywood Reporter. Director Robert Zemeckis’ technical marvel “has the quality of a lot of lasting children’s entertainment\,” Roger Ebert wrote in his 2004 review. \n\n\n\n“The Polar Express is a movie for more than one season; it will become a perennial\, shared by the generations…The conductor tells Hero Boy he thinks he really should get on the train\, and I have the same advice for you.” \n\n\n\n\nTickets and Showtimes for The Polar Express

SUMMARY:Queering the Documentary: An Evening with Filmmaker Connor Lee O’Keefe
DESCRIPTION:The Lindsay Theater and Cultural Center will introduce regional cinephiles to the singular filmmaking talent of Connor Lee O’Keefe later this month. \n\n\n\nO’Keefe is a nonfiction filmmaker\, artist and teacher who uses a queer lens to shape the realities captured in his films. He’s currently in residence as this semester’s Visiting Documentary Filmmaker at Robert Morris University. \n\n\n\nHe’ll be at The Lindsay on Thursday\, Nov. 7\, at 7 p.m. to share five of his documentary shorts as part of a specially curated Queering the Documentary program. Those screenings will be followed by a Q&A with O’Keefe. Tickets to this event are free\, but RSVPs are encouraged in advance due to space limitations. \n\n\n\n\nSome of O’Keefe’s films that will be screened on Nov. 7 include Our Transition\, which explores O’Keefe’s gender transition from his parents’ perspective; Imagine a Body\, an essay film on the spiritual nature of hormone replacement therapy for transgender men that premiered in 2022 as part of the The New Yorker Documentary Series; and No More Longing\, an immersive portrait of Brazilian musician Jaime Jobim that premiered at SFFilm in San Francisco. \n\n\n\n\n“It is a pleasure to work with our Visiting Documentary Filmmaker each fall semester\,” says Jen Stratakis\, RMU’s Arts & Humanities’ media outreach coordinator. “I have the privilege of helping each one connect with the RMU student body and greater Pittsburgh film community to share their work in a meaningful way. This semester\, Connor Lee O’Keefe brings his beautiful take on storytelling to our campus and our town. He is eloquent and his films are inspiring.”   \n\n\n\nThis is the second year in a row that The Lindsay will be hosting a Robert Morris Visiting Documentary Filmmaker’s public showcase. \n\n\n\n\n“I’m honored to have been able to continue refining my work as an artist with RMU and to have an opportunity to participate in fruitful dialogue with audiences at The Lindsay\,” says O’Keefe. “We need independent theaters to keep this art form doing what it does best—and that’s bringing people together.” \n\n\n\nRMU’s Visiting Documentary Filmmaker program is a 15-week residency that requires participants to teach a documentary introduction class\, create and share their work\, and actively engage with the RMU faculty\, student body and general community. \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n“We need queer and trans perspectives now more than ever\,” says O’Keefe. “I hope these films immerse you into a space that allows you to wonder\, heal and grow.”
