SUMMARY:Emerging Filmmakers Showcase: 'BATSH*T'
DESCRIPTION:The Lindsay is celebrating Halloween this year with an Emerging Filmmakers Showcase that’s chock-full of locally made frights and delights. \n\n\n\nBatsh*t is an indie horror-comedy that was inspired by genre favorites like Evil Dead\, Beetlejuice and A Nightmare on Elm Street. It follows an alcoholic who accidentally takes a hallucinatory drug and enters a nightmarish new world. \n\n\n\nThe Lindsay will be showing Batsh*t on Thursday\, Oct. 30\, at 7 p.m. This screening will be immediately followed by an in-person Q&A with director and co-writer Todd Wolfson\, star Jerry Pietrala and editor Karl O’Janpa. The event is free\, and The Lindsay recommends that all attendees use the form below to RSVP in advance due to space limitations. \n\n\n\nWolfson\, a Pittsburgh native and founder of production company Just Buried Entertainment\, is making his feature directorial debut with Batsh*t. The film stars Pietrala as Felix Darby\, a lost soul on a mind-altering journey. Along the way\, Felix encounters oddities such as a friend talking in tongues\, his roommate turning into an 8-bit character\, a talking killer cherry pie\, being haunted by his own ghost and much more. \n\n\n\nWolfson has been working on BatSh*t since 2018. He co-wrote the script with David Ogrodowski\, a veteran local filmmaker and actor who also appears in the film. The largely Western Pennsylvania-based cast also includes Tiffany Kemp\, Mikhail Tot\, Edward Pfeifer\, Nexus Lyons\, Samantha Ainsworth\, Brian Ceponis and Ben Dietels. \n\n\n\nBatsh*t is a mostly live-action film that also contains wild sequences involving both 2D and 3D animation\, stop-motion effects\, claymation—and even puppets! Be prepared for what Wolfson describes as a “very zany and original” cinematic experience. \n\n\n\n“This is a very important film to me\,” Wolfson says. “It’s jam-packed with a lot of Pittsburgh’s most talented actors. Batsh*t is a wildly entertaining dark comedy with a fantasy twist\, and it’s extremely independent to the core!” \n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n Emerging Filmmakers Showcase BATSH*T October 30\, 2025 Reservation Sign Up\n \n \n PhoneThis field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.Name(Required)\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Number of Tickets(Required)Phone Number(Required)Email(Required)\n \n Any Special Accommodations (Seating Accessibility\, etc.)?\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nClick Me!

SUMMARY:'Caregiving' with Ryan Shazier Fund
DESCRIPTION:Join former Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier for an exclusive ‘Caregiving’ screening!\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBuy Tickets Here!\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nThe Lindsay has partnered with WQED and the Ryan Shazier Fund for Spinal Rehabilitation to bring back Caregiving during National Family Caregivers Month. \n\n\n\nThe PBS documentary Caregiving returns to The Lindsay on Wednesday\, Nov. 19\, at 7 p.m. We will show the full-length version of director Chris Durrance’s inspirational film. \n\n\n\nThis event will also include a 6:30 p.m. reception in The Lindsay’s Community Room\, sponsored by the Richard King Mellon Foundation. Shazier\, a former Steelers linebacker\, will attend the reception and introduce the screening. Tickets are available for $8.75. \n\n\n\nThis Caregiving screening was conceived as an evening of warmth\, camaraderie and recognition for all caregivers. Shazier and members of his organization will be on hand to thank caregivers for their amazing work and dedication. \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nCaregiving was produced by Bradley Cooper\, who also appears in the film\, and narrated by Emmy winner Uzo Aduba. Both acclaimed actors have served as caregivers for a sick parent. Caregiving highlights the many challenges and triumphs that those caring for a sick parent or loved one experience every day. \n\n\n\nSome of the caregivers featured in this film include a young father caring for both his wife and son; a 14-year-old who\, along with his father\, shares the role of caregiver for his mom; and a young woman looking after her dementia-stricken father. \n\n\n\nShazier is an Ohio State University graduate who the Steelers picked 15th overall in the 2014 NFL Draft. He made two Pro Bowls with the Steelers\, but his career was abruptly ended after suffering a spinal contusion during a game in December 2017. Shazier officially retired from the NFL in September 2020. \n\n\n\nAfter 130 spinal rehabilitation sessions\, Shazier not only gained back the strength to walk\, but he was able to dance with his wife at their wedding. He founded the Shazier Fund in November 2020. Shazier currently serves as the president and board chairman for this nonprofit dedicated to ensuring SCI (spinal cord injury) patients have access to the treatments they need.

SUMMARY:Pittsburgh Zoo Celebrates 'Zootopia 2'
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy a free chat with two Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium educators—and an animal friend!\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Lindsay is partnering with the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium for a special program that will get kids even more excited to watch Zootopia 2. \n\n\n\nJessica Ries\, a Pittsburgh Zoo interpretation manager\, and Heather Berkey\, the zoo’s volunteer services manager\, will join us in The Lindsay’s Community Room on Sunday\, Dec. 14\, at 1:45 p.m. \n\n\n\nThis free educational opportunity will start with a Q&A geared around Zootopia 2\, the sequel to Disney’s 2016 animated adventure that starts playing at The Lindsay on Wednesday\, Nov. 26. \n\n\n\nRies and Berkey will discuss their work and how zoo animals are both similar and different from their on-screen Zootopia counterparts. They’ll then introduce an “animal friend” direct from the Pittsburgh Zoo. This will be a rare chance for children to get up close and personal with a furry\, feathery or even scaly critter. \n\n\n\n\n“Movies like Zootopia and the zoo both have the goal of connecting people with animals they’re not familiar with\,” says Ries. “You can connect with wildlife in a way that’s fun\, and you can relate to the characters.” \n\n\n\nZootopia 2 sends detectives Judy Hopps (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman) on the twisting trail of a mysterious reptile who arrives in Zootopia and turns the animal metropolis upside down. To crack the case\, Judy and Nick must go undercover to unexpected new parts of town\, where their growing partnership is tested like never before. \n\n\n\nThe Lindsay is also hosting a Zootopia 2 sensory friendly screening on Saturday\, Dec. 6\, at 10 a.m. Tickets to this showing are all discounted to $8.75 each. Sensory friendly screenings provide an option for families\, children\, and adults impacted by autism and other special needs to watch films together in a low-stress environment.

SUMMARY:Holiday Classics at The Lindsay

This year\, The Lindsay is also collecting nonperishables for Center for Hope\, an Ambridge food pantry that has been meeting growing demands. The food drive started last week\, in advance of Thanksgiving\, and will run through New Year’s Eve. \n\n\n\nWarm up your sleigh\, put on something cozy and head over to The Lindsay for a heaping helping of holiday cheer! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIt’s a Wonderful Life\n\n\n\nPG | 2h 10min | Drama\, Fantasy\, Romance\n\n\n\nDirector: Frank Capra\n\n\n\nStars: James Stewart\, Donna Reed\, Lionel Barrymore\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWho doesn’t sometimes feel like George Bailey (James Stewart) in It’s a Wonderful Life? It’s Christmas Eve\, and George is contemplating whether his life has amounted to anything. That’s when an angel appears to show George exactly what the world would look like without him. \n\n\n\n“It’s one of those ageless movies\, like Casablanca\, that improves with age … (and) can be viewed an indefinite number of times\,” late critic Roger Ebert declared. “Stewart touches the thespic peak of his career\,” and director Frank Capra injects “his sure-footed feeling for true dramatic impact\,” raves Variety. \n\n\n\nAdds BBC: “It’s a Wonderful Life achieves a fine balancing act between pathos and feel-good that is delivered by an outstanding cast. Even the minor parts are populated by some of the finest character actors\, and it produces a movie of timeless quality and relevance.” \n\n\n\n\nTickets and Showtimes for It’s a Wonderful Life\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nElf\n\n\n\nPG | 1h 37min | Comedy\n\n\n\nDirector: Jon Favreau\n\n\n\nStars: Will Ferrell\, James Caan\, Zooey Deschanel\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nElf stars Will Ferrell as Buddy\, a human raised by elves in the North Pole. A fully grown Buddy travels to New York City on a quest to meet his biological father (James Caan). Buddy’s infectious optimism inspires everyone he meets to embrace the holiday spirit. \n\n\n\nDirector Jon Favreau proved he “has the magic touch” with this “genuinely sweet” 21st-century Christmas classic\, praises the Los Angeles Times. “Will Ferrell is hilarious in this delightful elf-out-of-water holiday confection\,” declares The Hollywood Reporter. \n\n\n\n“Elf  is at the very least a breezily entertaining\, perfectly cast family treat. Actor-director Jon Favreau\, working from a colorful script by David Berenbaum\, has delivered just the right combination of naughty and nice.” \n\n\n\n\nTickets and Showtimes for Elf\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNational Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation\n\n\n\nPG-13 | 1h 37min | Comedy \n\n\n\nDirector: Jeremiah S. Chechick\n\n\n\nStars: Chevy Chase\, Bevery D’Angelo\, Juliette Lewis\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAnyone familiar with the Vacation franchise would’ve expected a Griswold family holiday celebration to play out exactly like it does in National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. This time\, Clark Griswold (Chevy Chase) doesn’t even have to leave town for things to go horribly wrong. \n\n\n\nThe third Vacation film is “the most madcap Christmas comedy ever\,” proclaims Time Out. Christmas Vacation is “side-splitting funny” and contains “moments of great physical comedy by Chase\,” applauds IGN. \n\n\n\n“This movie has always been a favorite when it comes to the nuttiness of Christmas and family\, and it’s still a riot.” \n\n\n\n\nTickets and Showtimes for Christmas Vacation\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHow the Grinch Stole Christmas (25th anniversary)\n\n\n\nPG | 1h 44min | Comedy\, Family\n\n\n\nDirector: Ron Howard\n\n\n\nStars: Jim Carrey\, Taylor Momsen\, Kelley\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIt has somehow been 25 years since we all learned How the Grinch Stole Christmas—in live action! This adaptation of the classic Dr. Seuss story stars Jim Carrey as the green grump who enlists his dog\, Max (Kelley)\, to ruin Whoville’s holiday festivities. \n\n\n\n“This is Jim Carrey’s show\, and he just about wraps the movie around his spindly green finger\,” commends Entertainment Weekly. “With The Grinch\, Carrey may well have realized the most entertaining\, and in the end\, almost moving live-action children’s characters put on screen\,” lauds Empire. \n\n\n\n“In the end\, this is Jim Carrey’s movie. His performance is quite simply a masterpiece of controlled sentiment\, perching brilliantly on the cusp of pathos and dangerous anger. … It’s a bravura performance loaded with energy\, wit and delighted malice.” \n\n\n\n\nTickets and Showtimes for How the Grinch Stole Christmas\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nChristmas in Connecticut (80th anniversary)\n\n\n\nNR | 1h 41min | Comedy\, Romance\n\n\n\nDirector: Peter Godfrey\n\n\n\nStars: Barbara Stanwyck\, Dennis Morgan\, Sydney Greenstreet\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nChristmas in Connecticut is a lovely holiday comedy starring Barbara Stanwyck as Elizabeth Lane\, a food writer who has been lying about having an idyllic life. Hijinks ensue and sparks fly when Elizabeth’s boss and a returning war hero invite themselves to her fictitious farm for Christmas. \n\n\n\nDirector Peter Godfrey’s 1945 rom com is full of “subversive screwball complications\,” praises The Guardian. It’s a “thoroughly wacky” film that has become “a bit of a hidden gem in the Christmas canon\,” writes The A.V. Club. \n\n\n\n“Coming off Stanwyck’s villainous\, Oscar-nominated turn in Double Indemnity\, Christmas in Connecticut presented one of the lightest\, gentlest roles in her career. … There’s so much about Christmas in Connecticut that feels newly relevant to our current era.” \n\n\n\nNote: Wendy Whittick\, the Pittsburgh Classic Movie Club’s president\, will introduce the 7 p.m. Christmas in Connecticut screening on Friday\, Dec. 19.  \n\n\n\n\nTickets and Showtimes for Christmas in Connecticut

SUMMARY:Emerging Filmmaker Showcase: 'Water Rites'
DESCRIPTION:The Lindsay’s first Emerging Filmmakers Showcase of 2026 is an independently made thriller featuring a few horror legends and plenty of local talent. \n\n\n\nWater Rites was written and directed by McMurray native Dean Jacobs. It follows a young couple\, played by Jacobs and Katy Bentz (Life is Strange)\, who uncover unsettling secrets while spending the summer in a secluded lakefront community. \n\n\n\nJacobs’ followup to 2023’s The Trip will have its East Coast premiere at The Lindsay on Thursday\, Jan. 8\, at 7:15 p.m. This event is free\, though we recommend that all attendees RSVP via the below sign-up form due to space limitations. The screening will be immediately followed by a filmmaker Q&A. \n\n\n\n“I’m thrilled to come home and premiere my second feature film\,” says Jacobs. “As long as I’m making movies\, I’ll always screen them in Pittsburgh first—for family\, friends and the city that made me who I am.” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBentz and Jacobs play Katie and James\, a young couple embarking on a summer getaway to a remote town nestled high in the California mountains. However\, they may never be able to escape this idyllic retreat after unwittingly discovering this community’s disturbing secrets. \n\n\n\nThe film’s supporting cast includes Dee Wallace\, who played Elliott’s mother in E.T. and is also known for roles in The Stepford Wives and Cujo; Michael Berryman\, a long-time character actor who has appeared in classics such as One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and The Hills Have Eyes; and Lynn Lowry\, a horror icon who many will recognize from George Romero’s The Crazies and David Cronenberg’s Shivers. \n\n\n\nWhile Water Rites was filmed in California\, Jacobs is a Western Pennsylvania product through and through. The Peters Township High School and Indiana University of Pennsylvania graduate performed at regional theaters and worked on several locally made films before moving to Los Angeles in 2012. \n\n\n\nMost of Water Rites‘ crew hails from the Pittsburgh area\, including director of photography Ethan Leisie. Jacobs knew he needed this region’s plethora of skilled entertainment professionals to level up as a filmmaker. \n\n\n\n“With this film\, I really wanted to raise the bar\,” Jacobs says. “My first feature was shot on an extremely low budget. So going into this project\, I knew I wanted every aspect to be bigger and better. And I think we achieved that.” \n\n\n\nUPDATE: This event is now at capacity! SUMMARY:Emerging Filmmakers Showcase: 'Wire'
DESCRIPTION:The Lindsay’s second Emerging Filmmakers Showcase this month is a locally filmed crime thriller made by two University of Pittsburgh film students. \n\n\n\nWire was written and directed by Pitt seniors Max Christopher and Nate Drew. The duo intended to make a short film\, but ended up producing a feature-length story about a troubled loner who becomes obsessed with solving a mysterious woman’s murder. \n\n\n\nTheir directorial debut will play at The Lindsay on Thursday\, Jan. 15\, at 7 p.m. This event is free\, but RSVPs are requested via the below sign-up form due to space limitations. The screening will be immediately followed by a Q&A with Christopher\, Drew\, and stars Erik Smith and Gabby Hernandez. \n\n\n\n“Wire has been one of the most creatively fulfilling experiences of my life\,” says Christopher. “Shot entirely in Pittsburgh\, the film highlights every aspect of the city\, from the streets of the North Shore to the overlook on Mt. Washington.” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSmith stars as Devlin\, an aimless private investigator who spends every day on a mental high-wire act. Devlin makes a series of calls on his 24th birthday in a desperate effort to make connections. “Monica” (Hernandez) answers\, and a bond begins to form—at least\, for Devlin. \n\n\n\nDuring one of their phone conversations\, Devlin hears a scream and a scuffle before the line goes dead. He decides to take control and embark on a dangerous investigation to find “Monica” and save her. Is he simply misguided\, or is there just enough time for him to become the man he wants to be? \n\n\n\n“Wire drops you right into dark\, grimy Pittsburgh\, a perfect stage for our first murder mystery\,” says Drew. “Wire blends the styles of Nightcrawler\, The Batman and Memento with Pittsburgh’s skyline\, character and streets. It explores the problems that can arise from the modern media onslaught.” \n\n\n\nChristopher and Drew met during their freshmen years at Pitt. Christopher is a North Huntingdon\, Pa.\, native studying film and business\, while Drew hails from Philadelphia and is majoring in film production and history. \n\n\n\n They’re both part of 7to8 Production & Distribution\, a locally based outfit that was founded in 2023 to help student filmmakers bring their scripts to life. Christopher is 7to8’s senior director of brand management and marketing research\, while Drew is the production company’s senior director of tech operations and asset management. \n\n\n\nWire is a culmination of Christopher and Drew’s undergraduate experiences\, having worked on it since they were freshmen. It also marks the arrival of two promising young Pittsburgh filmmakers. \n\n\n\n“Wire is a truly independent work\, made on less than a shoestring budget by mostly students—all from Pittsburgh\,” says Christopher. “Seeing Wire on the big screen means supporting the up-and-coming filmmakers\, actors and artists of Pittsburgh.” \n\n\n\nHello\, we are sorry but this event is now sold out! SUMMARY:Emerging Filmmakers Showcase: 'I: Scream—A Minty Musical'
DESCRIPTION:The Lindsay’s final Emerging Filmmakers Showcase in January is a deliciously fun musical made by a local filmmaking power couple. \n\n\n\nI: Scream—A Minty Musical was directed by Aleen Isley and written by Isley with her husband\, Steve Rudzinski. The film\, which was partially shot in Sewickley\, follows a scientist’s desperate efforts to stop living ice cream from devouring everything in sight. \n\n\n\nIsley and Rudzinski’s latest cinematic treat will play at The Lindsay on Thursday\, Jan. 22\, at 7 p.m. It will be proceeded by a selection of trailers and music videos celebrating the 15th anniversary of their production company\, Silver Spotlight Films. The screening will be immediately followed by a filmmaker Q&A. This event is free\, though we recommend RSVPing via the below sign-up form due to space limitations. \n\n\n\n“What sets I: Scream apart from other locally made horror comedies is its musical format\,” says Isley. “It’s sure to get your toes tapping and leave a long-lasting ear worm when you leave the theater.” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nI: Scream features six original songs written by Isley and composed by Mike Trebilcock. They help tell the story of Charlie (B. Barnabei)\, a scientist who’s hopelessly in love with their childhood friend\, Logainne (Marie Taylor). \n\n\n\nOne night\, some experimental\, DNA-altering chemicals fall into a mint chocolate chip treat\, causing it to gain sentience. “Minty” has one desire: eat everything it can. It’s up to Charlie\, their friend Sean (Alex Hazen) and Reggie the retired ice cream purveyor (David Dietz) to save Logainne and end Minty’s reign of terror. \n\n\n\nIsley filmed I: Scream during summer 2025 throughout this region with a largely Western Pennsylvania-based cast. Audiences may recognize Pittsburgh-adjacent businesses such as Technique by Toni Dance Studio\, Scoops Ice Cream in Sewickley and the Riverside Drive In Theatre in Vandergrift. \n\n\n\n“Our town may be known for its sports teams\, but it also boasts a cultural smelting of the arts\,” Isley says. “I: Scream is another new work presented by a home-grown Pittsburgh director who could really use your support.” \n\n\n\nIsley and Rudzinski have made 15-plus films together—mostly in the Pittsburgh area—since 2011. A few have previously screened at The Lindsay\, including the CarousHELL trilogy and last year’s Curtains for Christmas. \n\n\n\nWith I: Scream\, Isley combined her filmmaking experience and musical theater background to create a truly original horror-comedy. \n\n\n\n“Our city has hosted cult classic musicals such as The Rocky Horror Picture Show for decades\,” she says. “It’s time for a minty fresh new favorite.” \n\n\n\n\n \n \n Emerging Filmmakers Showcase I:SCREAM- A MINTY MUSICAL January 22\, 2026 Reservation Sign Up\n \n \n InstagramThis field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.Name(Required)\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Number of Tickets(Required)Phone Number(Required)Email(Required)\n \n Any Special Accommodations (Seating Accessibility\, etc.)?

SUMMARY:Oscars Talk: Film Critics to Gather at The Lindsay; Cinephiles Invited
DESCRIPTION:Join the Oscars buzz on Sunday\, Feb. 15\, when noted film critics debate the ins and outs of the 2026 Academy Awards at The Lindsay Theater and Cultural Center. \n\n\n\nAmanda Waltz\, a local journalist and former Pittsburgh City Paper arts & entertainment editor\, will once again moderate a wide-ranging conversation and Q&A with a panel comprising Pittsburgh Film Critics Association members Lindsey Bahr (Associated Press)\, Sean Collier (Shady Ave Magazine) and Megan McLachlan (The Contending). Josh Axelrod\, The Lindsay’s Director of Communications and an active PFCA member\, will also participate in this discussion. \n\n\n\nThis free\, non-ticketed event will take place in The Lindsay’s Community Room on Sunday\, Feb. 15\, at 2 p.m. These professional critics and journalists will provide their thoughts on this year’s Oscars race\, films that seem to be over- or underperforming with voters\, their ideal Oscars scenarios and much more. \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nAudience members will have the opportunity to ask questions and engage in conversation with some of this region’s most prominent film aficionados. \n\n\n\nLindsey Bahr has been an Associated Press film writer and critic since 2014. This Pittsburgh native is a regular at Hollywood’s glitziest awards shows. Bahr covered the 2025 Oscars live from Los Angeles’ Dolby Theatre. She plans to be there for this year’s ceremony as well. \n\n\n\nSean Collier is the editor-in-chief of Shady Ave Magazine. He spent 15 years with Pittsburgh Magazine\, most recently serving as its managing editor and chief film critic. He’s also a stand-up comic\, co-founder of Vigilance Theater Group\, co-host of The Number One Movie in America podcast\, and a regular on WDVE and Pittsburgh Today Live. \n\n\n\nMegan McLachlan\, a former Awards Daily contributor\, recently co-founded the awards advocacy site The Contending. Her work also has appeared in Buzzfeed\, Cosmopolitan\, The Cut\, Paste\, Thrillist\, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and The Washington Post. \n\n\n\nThe Pittsburgh Film Critics Association\, formed in 2023 by 15 Western Pennsylvania-based critics\, announced its second annual film awards earlier this year. Their Best Picture prize went to Sinners\, writer-director Ryan Coogler’s Southern vampire thriller that was recently nominated for a record-breaking 16 Academy Awards. \n\n\n\nTalking with these critics might prove helpful for anyone planning to enter The Lindsay’s annual Oscars Contest. The film buff who most accurately predicts the highest number of winners—matching the Academy’s Best Picture—will earn a non-transferable pass for free\, unlimited movies for the rest of 2026! This contest just launched and will extend through Saturday\, March 14\, at 8 p.m. \n\n\n\nThe Lindsay will continue showing this year’s Oscar nominees throughout awards season. We have already played most of the Best Picture nominees\, and we plan to run all 15 Oscar-nominated short films in the near future.

SUMMARY:Sewickley Valley Historical Society presents: 'The American Revolution'
DESCRIPTION:Watch a shorter version of Ken Burns’ riveting new PBS docuseries on the big screen!\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBuy Tickets Here!\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Lindsay is partnering with the Sewickley Valley Historical Society to put Ken Burns’ latest docuseries on the big screen. \n\n\n\nWe’re showing a 45-minute version of The American Revolution\, Burns’ critically acclaimed PBS series about the war for American independence\, on Thursday\, Feb. 26\, at 7 p.m. Tickets are now on sale for $8.75 each. \n\n\n\nThis screening will be followed by a virtual Q&A with Dr. Holly Mayer\, a professor emerita of history at Duquesne University and author of multiple books about colonial America. \n\n\n\nThe American Revolution examines how America’s founding turned the world upside-down. Thirteen British colonies on the Atlantic Coast rose in rebellion\, won their independence\, and established a new form of government that radically reshaped the continent and inspired centuries of democratic movements around the globe. \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThe American Revolution currently has a 96% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes. It joins other Burns-created docuseries about pivotal domestic and international conflicts such as 1990’s The Civil War\, 2007’s The War (about Americans fighting in World War II) and 2017’s The Vietnam War. \n\n\n\nThe Sewickley Valley Historical Society is celebrating the United States’ 250th birthday by showing three thematically linked films at The Lindsay in 2026. The American Revolution will kick off this series. \n\n\n\nIt will be followed by history-based musical 1776 on Thursday\, March 26\, at 6:30 p.m. This series’ grand finale will be sci-fi comedy The Spirit of ’76 on Thursday\, April 30\, at 7 p.m.

SUMMARY:Emerging Filmmakers Showcase: 'Beneath the Sole'
DESCRIPTION:Both showtimes have sold out\, please stay tuned for updates on future showings. \n\n\n\n\nThe Lindsay’s next Emerging Filmmakers Showcase is an exciting documentary about a beloved Sewickley family and institution. \n\n\n\nBeneath the Sole focuses on Mario Ulizzi\, who opened Sewickley Shoe Repair in 1999 and remains its owner. Director Ryan Rust paints an intimate portrait of a beloved local craftsman whose spirit is restored by the community whose shoes he fixes. \n\n\n\nThis 30-minute documentary will play twice at The Lindsay on Sunday\, March 22. You can RSVP for either a 1 p.m. or 2:20 p.m. showtime. Both screenings are free and will be followed by a Q&A with Rust\, Ulizzi and producer Krystle Gandy. \n\n\n\n“This premiere is a celebration of the Sewickley community\,” says Rust\, of Moon Township. “And it now comes full circle\, premiering at the best theater in Pittsburgh!” \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nRust and his wife\, Caitlin\, moved to Moon about four years ago. They love grabbing coffee and walking around Sewickley on a lovely spring\, summer or fall day. During one of those excursions\, Caitlin pointed out Sewickley Shoe Repair and told her husband\, “You should tell their story.” \n\n\n\nIt didn’t take much research to convince Rust that Ulizzi and Sewickley Shoe Repair could be fascinating documentary subjects. He reached out to Sewickley Shoe Repair in March 2025 and quickly established contact with Ulizzi and his wife\, Carla. \n\n\n\n“If you ask anyone in town\, Mario has a unique way of connecting with people\,” says Rust. “From the moment we first met to discuss the idea of telling his story\, I just had a feeling it was going to be a great one. I have only known Mario for almost a year\, and I feel like I have known him my whole life.” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProduction began in July 2025\, and the film was completed late last year. Rust credited Grandy\, also the board president of Women in Film & Media Pittsburgh\, and Beneath the Sole‘s crew for their instrumental roles in bringing this project to fruition. \n\n\n\nRust is no stranger to The Lindsay. His documentary HIVE\, about a Pittsburgh-area beekeeper\, played here in 2024 as part of the Theater’s Emerging Filmmakers Showcase. He’s looking forward to showing his latest film in a venue that “truly holds a special place in my heart.” \n\n\n\nBeneath the Sole will start streaming on WQED+ the day after its Lindsay premiere. Rust hopes that everyone will check out this testament to “how a community can touch someone’s life in so many ways.” \n\n\n\n“The world is always pushing to shop and buy local\,” he says. “Sewickley is a town where you can do all that and even catch a movie! The audience will walk away with a deeper understanding behind the craft of shoe repair. … I truly hope that after people see this film\, they look for their local shoe repair shop.”

SUMMARY:Emerging Filmmakers Showcase: 'Something Divine'
DESCRIPTION:The Lindsay’s second Emerging Filmmakers Showcase in March is a local documentarian’s enlightening new film about a hardcore musician’s spiritual transformation. \n\n\n\nSomething Divine is a globe-trotting documentary centered around Raghunath\, aka Youth of Today and Shelter lead singer Ray Cappo. This straight-edge hardcore icon embarked on a life-changing journey to India at the height of his musical popularity. Raghunath guides director Thomas Essig on an excursion throughout India while exploring how his punk and monk identities can exist together in spiritual harmony. \n\n\n\nThe public premiere of Something Divine will take place at The Lindsay on Sunday\, March 29\, at 1 p.m. Essig\, a Butler County-based filmmaker\, will be at the Theater for an in-person Q&A following the screening. Tickets are free\, and we recommend reserving seats in advance via the below RSVP form due to space limitations. \n\n\n\n“The film is designed to make you feel like you are in India and in those venues with Youth of Today and Shelter\,” says Essig. “This is not your typical spirituality documentary. It’s just truth. There is no one sitting on a mountain telling you the secret to life\, however you may find your truth.” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEssig is a New York City native who first moved to Butler in 1992. He went back to the Empire State in 1999 and didn’t return to Western Pennsylvania until 2022. His film career kicked off in 2017. Music was Essig’s first love\, and his resumé includes serving as the drummer for Pittsburgh band The Prestons in the mid-1990s. \n\n\n\nBefore Something Divine\, Essig knew Raghunath only as a local yoga teacher in the Hudson\, N.Y.\, area. A former girlfriend went on a pilgrimage to India with Raghunath in 2016\, and she informed Essig about his rock-star alter ego. \n\n\n\n“I had no idea!” recalls Essig. “She described how hardcore punk fans\, yoga students and regular Joes went to India to participate in spiritual practices. I found it fascinating that people from all walks of life come together for a two-week trip diving into spirituality.” \n\n\n\nHe remembered flippantly saying at the time\, “How come nobody has ever made a movie about this?” After going on his first pilgrimage to India with Raghunath in 2017\, Essig realized that this experience allowed lost souls to seek their own “connection to the divine.” Essig has now made nine trips to India. \n\n\n\nSomething Divine was filmed in 2019 and has since played at festivals and private screenings. The Lindsay is hosting the film’s first public theatrical showing. Its PVOD release is set for March 27 on platforms such as Prime Video\, Apple TV and Roku. \n\n\n\nEssig appreciates The Lindsay for “bringing independent film to the community” with programs like the Theater’s Emerging Filmmakers Showcase. He hopes folks in this region take advantage of an opportunity to watch “a beautifully shot film about people trying to fix something broken in themselves” on the big screen. \n\n\n\n“Something Divine turned into a project from my heart\,” he says. “I can’t wait to convey this unique experience to the rest of the world.” \n\n\n\n\n \n \n Emerging Filmmakers Showcase SOMETHING DIVINE March 29\, 2026 Reservation Sign up\n \n \n EmailThis field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.Name(Required)\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Number of Tickets(Required)Phone Number(Required)Email(Required)\n \n Any Special Accommodations (Seating Accessibility\, etc.)?

SUMMARY:Emerging Filmmakers Showcase: 'The Haunting of Prince Dom Pedro'
DESCRIPTION:The Lindsay’s second Emerging Filmmakers Showcase in April is a genre-mashing comedy that was made on a grander scaler than most locally shot independent films. \n\n\n\nThe Haunting of Prince Dom Pedro was conceived and written by Joe Fishel\, of Butler\, and directed by Don Swanson\, of Ebensburg. This film takes several film genres\, from supernatural mysteries to rom coms\, and combines them to form a modern-day fairytale about a group of high school Latin American history students who quickly regret their decision to not fully appreciate the Liberator of Brazil. \n\n\n\nFishel and Swanson’s film will have its Pittsburgh premiere at The Lindsay on Thursday\, April 16\, at 7 p.m. The 83-minute screening will be immediately followed by a filmmaker Q&A. Tickets are free\, and we recommend RSVPing via the sign-up form below due to space limitations. \n\n\n\n“The Haunting of Prince Dom Pedro is a fun\, quirky movie that is very entertaining\,” says Fishel. “It has been described as a Scooby-Doo movie without the big dog.” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDom Pedro was a Portuguese prince who became Brazil’s first ruler in the early 19th century. Fishel\, a longtime staple of this region’s film industry\, conceived of The Haunting of Prince Dom Pedro after thinking about the worst-case scenario if high school students ignored their teacher’s plea to take their studies seriously. \n\n\n\nThat initial idea evolved into a family-friendly romp that blends comedy\, mystery\, light horror\, romance\, teen shenanigans\, martial arts\, crime capers\, historical drama\, musicals—and even Bigfoot. \n\n\n\nFilming took place across six Western Pennsylvania counties and one Ohio county. Dom Pedro was edited by Jamie Lockhart\, of Bellevue\, and stars Rachel O’Day\, of Saltsburg\, and Madeline Schlichter\, of Indiana Township\, as high-schoolers “Jayden and Kayden.” \n\n\n\nOne particularly unique aspect of Dom Pedro‘s production was its designation as a SAG-AFTRA micro-budget feature. That program is available to projects made for $20\,000 or less\, and it gave Fishel and company the green light to increase the scope of their modestly budgeted endeavor. \n\n\n\n“There were more than 160 people as part of the cast and crew\, and more than 150 of them appeared in front of the camera\,” explains Fishel. “That’s a huge number for a locally filmed indie.” \n\n\n\nThere are so many familiar places and faces in Dom Pedro that filmgoers will likely recognize at least one location or actor. Fishel believes “there is something for everyone in the movie\,” and he can’t wait to share his team’s hard work with Lindsay audiences. \n\n\n\n“The Lindsay Theater is a dynamic facility and a hub for the local indie film scene in Pittsburgh\,” says Fishel. “The Haunting of Prince Dom Pedro should look terrific on The Lindsay’s big screen.” \n\n\n\n\n \n \n Emerging Filmmakers Showcase THE HAUNTING OF PRINCE DOM PEDRO April 16\, 2026 Reservation Sign Up\n \n \n PhoneThis field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.Name(Required)\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Number of Tickets(Required)Phone Number(Required)Email(Required)\n \n Any Special Accommodations (Seating Accessibility\, etc.)?

SUMMARY:Emerging Filmmakers Showcase: 'Cobblestoned'
DESCRIPTION:The Lindsay’s next Emerging Filmmakers Showcase is a feature-length version of a locally made web series about two slackers solving paranormal mysteries. \n\n\n\nCobblestoned was written and directed by Pittsburghers Erick Rigby and Reese Hayes. The duo behind regionally based production company Dashing Agent spent five years turning seven web episodes into an almost 2 1/2-hour romp inspired by personal favorites such as The X-Files\, Twin Peaks and Sam Raimi’s eclectic filmography. \n\n\n\nRigby and Hayes will premiere Cobblestoned at The Lindsay on Thursday\, May 14\, at 7 p.m. The screening will be followed immediately by an in-person filmmaker Q&A. Tickets are free\, but we recommend RSVPing via the below sign-up form due to space limitations. \n\n\n\n“The whole intention was to be creative and make something fun\,” says Hayes. “I think because we went in with that spirit\, it ended up being great!” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHayes grew up in Potter County and moved to Pittsburgh in 2015. He met Rigby while casting for a short\, and they soon began working on web-exclusive films and shows. During that time\, Hayes landed a production assistant job on the locally filmed Netflix series Mindhunter. \n\n\n\nWhile working on Mindhunter\, Hayes “wanted something to keep us creative” when he wasn’t on set. That’s when Hayes and Rigby started collaborating on Cobblestoned\, in which they also star as substance-abusing roommates who become paranormal detectives after stumbling across a polaroid of a missing woman. \n\n\n\nThe fictional Hayes and Rigby might not be the most competent duo to solve the case\, but when it comes to monsters\, ghouls and alternate dimensions\, no one is more up for the task than these two idiots. \n\n\n\n“It never takes itself too seriously\,” says Hayes. “It blends a lot of genres. We were always trying to make each other laugh. There are some really goofy moments in there that stand up really well.” \n\n\n\nMost Cobblestoned episodes were linked to a Pennsylvania urban legend\, such as Philadelphia’s Bus to Nowhere and York’s Seven Gates of Hell. Hayes and Rigby released their web series on YouTube with the intent of eventually adapting it into a film. They eventually shot interstitials to help weave their web series into a single story. \n\n\n\nCobblestoned was largely filmed in Pittsburgh’s East End\, particularly Squirrel Hill\, Shadyside and Regent Square. Though Hayes said that most production work was done by “me\, Erick and a tripod\,” they received a ton of support from this region’s entertainment community who were willing to embrace their film’s DIY spirit. \n\n\n\n“It became more of a community-building project as it went on\,” he said. “We made a lot of friends and got a lot of help that way. It’s a very Pittsburgh movie in tone and substance.” \n\n\n\n\n \n \n Emerging Filmmakers Showcase COBBLESTONED May 14\, 2026 Reservation Sign Up\n \n \n LinkedInThis field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.Name(Required)\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Number of Tickets(Required)Phone Number(Required)Email(Required)\n \n Any Special Accommodations (Seating Accessibility\, etc.)?\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n \n Emerging Filmmakers Showcase COBBLESTONED May 14\, 2026 Reservation Sign Up\n \n \n CommentsThis field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.Name(Required)\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Number of Tickets(Required)Phone Number(Required)Email(Required)\n \n Any Special Accommodations (Seating Accessibility\, etc.)?

This time\, Robert’s son\, Giuseppe\, joins him and Dan on an adventure as they get MVP treatment at Dodger Stadium\, Petco Park and the Oakland Coliseum. \n\n\n\nThe film explores what happens between the big moments\, capturing quiet struggles\, inside jokes and the unspoken weight of time passing. Short Stop also features an appearance from late Pirates legend Dave Parker\, who lived with Parkinson’s disease for 13 years before his death in June 2025. \n\n\n\nCochrane also already shown Short Stop more than 30 times this year in a variety of settings nationwide. It has received rapturous acclaim from those audiences\, who gave Short Stop an average of 4.7/5 stars. Of those viewers\, 99% said they would recommend Cochrane’s film to others. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis screening is being presented in partnership with Parkinson Foundation Western Pennsylvania\, a local nonprofit that provides services\, support and education for those living with Parkinson’s disease and their families. The Lindsay and PFWPA previously collaborated to show the 2023 documentary Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie\, about the Back to the Future actor who was first diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 1991. \n\n\n\n“We hope that those affected by Parkinson’s feel a sense of hope despite the many challenges the disease presents\,” says Casey Peluso\, PFWPA’s vice president of programs and outreach\, about this Short Stop event. “The collaboration between Robert Cochrane and The Lindsay Theater is very special because it not only brings awareness of Parkinson’s\, but it shows that there is a community of support.” \n\n\n\nRobert Cochrane believes that “movie theaters are sacred space” and the ideal venue to experience his family’s story. “It’s an amazing and all-too-rare opportunity to share a communal experience in the dark with people we don’t know and remember how we’re much more alike than different.”

SUMMARY:Emerging Filmmakers Showcase: 'Collections in Black'
DESCRIPTION:The Lindsay’s latest Emerging Filmmakers Showcase is an exciting documentary from a local filmmaker that highlights the rarely explored history of Black comic book creators and enthusiasts. \n\n\n\nCollections in Black was directed by Phillip Thompson\, a multi-hyphenate artist who many Pittsburghers may know as DJ Big Phill. His film delves into the significant contributions of Black collectors\, artists\, writers and creators from the Golden Age of comics through today. \n\n\n\nCollections in Black will play at The Lindsay on Thursday\, June 18\, at 7:30 p.m. Thompson will display a few physical examples of Black excellence in this genre and lead an in-person Q&A following the screening. Tickets are free\, and we recommend RSVPing via the the below sign-up form due to space limitations. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThompson is a Penn Hills native and accomplished DJ\, music producer\, filmmaker and art curator. The 33 and a Third Media founder has been working in the documentary space for more than 25 years. The Archive\, his first film that showcases Pittsburgh’s hip-hop landscape\, premiered in 2000 at the Andy Warhol Museum. \n\n\n\nAn abridged version of Collections in Black featured in an art exhibition that also displayed an unprecedented amount of artwork\, unique items and other artifacts representing Black comic book culture. The exhibit has appeared in multiple venues nationwide—including Downtown’s August Wilson African American Cultural Center. \n\n\n\nThe documentary includes interviews with artists from across the country\, spotlights important Black figures in comic book history\, and documents some of America’s rarest comic and art collections. \n\n\n\n“We have a heavy impact\,” Thompson told Pittsburgh City Paper in 2024. “There are so many unsung heroes in the comic industry\, and there are some that have been pushed to the side\, and there are some you don’t know because you just don’t know.” \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n \n Emerging Filmmakers Showcase COLLECTIONS IN BLACK June 18\, 2026 Reservation Sign Up\n \n \n EmailThis field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.Name(Required)\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Number of Tickets(Required)Phone Number(Required)Email(Required)\n \n Any Special Accommodations (Seating Accessibility\, etc.)?
