DESCRIPTION:Watch this moving\, multigenerational documentary exclusively at The Lindsay. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nBuy Tickets Here!\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Lindsay is once again partnering with Parkinson Foundation Western Pennsylvania to show a very special documentary. \n\n\n\nBoys of Summer: Short Stop is the third installment in a four-part series from filmmaker Robert Cochrane\, Ph.D.\, chronicling precious time spent with his father\, Dan Cochrane\, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2001. \n\n\n\nShort Stop will play at The Lindsay on Sunday\, May 17\, at 1 p.m. All tickets to this event are discounted to $8.75 each. Robert Cochrane will participate in a virtual Q&A immediately following the screening. \n\n\n\n“I hope viewers will engage with us like we are members of their family—or neighbors\, to put it in Mister Rogers terms\,” says Cochrane. “The greatest compliments are that people laughed\, cried\, thought and are inspired to do more with their own family.” \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nCochrane is the founder and CEO of Yes\, And…eXercise!\, a nonprofit dedicated to motivating and inspiring people impacted by Parkinson’s to gain confidence\, connect with others\, and discover joy through improvisation and storytelling. \n\n\n\nAfter his father’s diagnosis\, Robert and Dan set off on a two-month\, 20\,000-mile baseball road trip that he made into the 2004 documentary Boys of Summer: First Base. Boys of Summer: Second Base followed in 2014\, with Short Stop coming in 2020. Part four\, Boys of Summer: Third Base\, will premiere later this month at the World Parkinson Congress in Phoenix\, Arizona. \n\n\n\nShort Stop picks up almost two decades after Dan’s initial diagnosis. He struggles at times with losing pieces of himself and accepting support as his disease advances. This time\, Robert’s son\, Giuseppe\, joins him and Dan on an adventure as they get MVP treatment at Dodger Stadium\, Petco Park and the Oakland Coliseum.  \n\n\n\nThe film explores what happens between the big moments\, capturing quiet struggles\, inside jokes and the unspoken weight of time passing. Short Stop also features an appearance from late Pirates legend Dave Parker\, who lived with Parkinson’s disease for 13 years before his death in June 2025. \n\n\n\nCochrane also already shown Short Stop more than 30 times this year in a variety of settings nationwide. It has received rapturous acclaim from those audiences\, who gave Short Stop an average of 4.7/5 stars. Of those viewers\, 99% said they would recommend Cochrane’s film to others.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis screening is being presented in partnership with Parkinson Foundation Western Pennsylvania\, a local nonprofit that provides services\, support and education for those living with Parkinson’s disease and their families. The Lindsay and PFWPA previously collaborated to show the 2023 documentary Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie\, about the Back to the Future actor who was first diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 1991. \n\n\n\n“We hope that those affected by Parkinson’s feel a sense of hope despite the many challenges the disease presents\,” says Casey Peluso\, PFWPA’s vice president of programs and outreach\, about this Short Stop event. “The collaboration between Robert Cochrane and The Lindsay Theater is very special because it not only brings awareness of Parkinson’s\, but it shows that there is a community of support.” \n\n\n\nRobert Cochrane believes that “movie theaters are sacred space” and the ideal venue to experience his family’s story. “It’s an amazing and all-too-rare opportunity to share a communal experience in the dark with people we don’t know and remember how we’re much more alike than different.”

DESCRIPTION:Check out this 1933 pre-code dramedy at The Lindsay!\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBuy Tickets Here!\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Pittsburgh Classic Movie Club is bringing Golden Age romance\, drama and screwball comedy to The Lindsay. \n\n\n\nWe are partnering with PCMC to show 1933’s Dinner at Eight on Sunday\, May 31\, at 1 p.m. Academy Award-winner George Cukor directed this opulent tale of romantic entanglements\, business intrigue and personal crises during one particularly memorable dinner party. \n\n\n\nTickets to Dinner at Eight are on sale for $11. PCMC president Wendy Whittick will provide a special introduction prior to the screening. \n\n\n\nCukor’s career spanned five decades and also included 1940’s The Philadelphia Story\, 1944’s Gaslight\, 1954’s A Star is Born remake and 1964’s My Fair Lady—for which he won a Best Director Oscar. \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nIn Dinner at Eight\, affluent Millicent (Billie Burke) and Oliver Jordan (Lionel Barrymore) throw a dinner for a handful of wealthy and/or well-born acquaintances\, each of whom has much to reveal. The film’s all-star cast also includes Marie Dressler\, John Barrymore\, Wallace Beery and Jean Harlow. \n\n\n\nThe Pittsburgh Classic Movie Club’s mission is to preserve and promote classic film from the Golden Age of Hollywood—defined as films released between 1910 and 1969—in this region. PCMC holds screenings throughout the Pittsburgh area\, and often partners with The Lindsay on exclusive classic film events.

DESCRIPTION:The Lindsay’s latest Emerging Filmmakers Showcase is an exciting documentary from a local filmmaker that highlights the rarely explored history of Black comic book creators and enthusiasts. \n\n\n\nCollections in Black was directed by Phillip Thompson\, a multi-hyphenate artist who many Pittsburghers may know as DJ Big Phill. His film delves into the significant contributions of Black collectors\, artists\, writers and creators from the Golden Age of comics through today. \n\n\n\nCollections in Black will play at The Lindsay on Thursday\, June 18\, at 7:30 p.m. Thompson will display a few physical examples of Black excellence in this genre and lead an in-person Q&A following the screening. Tickets are free\, and we recommend RSVPing via the the below sign-up form due to space limitations. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThompson is a Penn Hills native and accomplished DJ\, music producer\, filmmaker and art curator. The 33 and a Third Media founder has been working in the documentary space for more than 25 years. The Archive\, his first film that showcases Pittsburgh’s hip-hop landscape\, premiered in 2000 at the Andy Warhol Museum. \n\n\n\nAn abridged version of Collections in Black featured in an art exhibition that also displayed an unprecedented amount of artwork\, unique items and other artifacts representing Black comic book culture.
