DESCRIPTION:Watch a thought-provoking film about aging and hear from local experts right after!\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPurchase Tickets Here!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThe Lindsay is launching the Valley Care Foundation Aging Seniors Series\, supported by the Sewickley-based Valley Care Foundation\, with an exclusive documentary screening and panel discussion centered around the joys and struggles of aging. \n\n\n\nThe film Two Strangers Trying Not to Kill Each Other is playing multiple times during Documentary Series 2026 (Sept. 11-24). It follows married artists Maggie Barrett and Joel Meyerowitz as they navigate love\, aging and their creative processes. \n\n\n\nThe 1 p.m. Two Strangers screening on Thursday\, Sept. 24 will be free for everyone 55-and-over. All guests 55-and-over who attend that showing will be asked to provide their zip code upon arrival—and that’s it! Attendees under the age of 55 can purchase their tickets at the Theater or in advance for $11 each. \n\n\n\nThis screening will be introduced by Valley Care Foundation board member Patrick Colletti. After it concludes\, attendees are invited to a panel discussion in The Lindsay’s Community Room featuring: \n\n\n\n• Moderator Karen Ferrick-Roman\, a recent Lindsay Theater retiree. \n\n\n\n• Dr. Chris O’Donnell\, a Valley Care Foundation board member and accomplished geriatric physician. \n\n\n\n• Trish Hooper\, CEO of the Sewickley Valley YMCA\, which provides resources via Senior Central. \n\n\n\n• Dr. N. Graham Standish\, executive director of Samaritan Counseling\, which provides senior counselingservices. \n\n\n\nTwo Strangers follows Barrett\, a struggling novelist\, and Meyerowitz\, a successful photographer\, who met later in life\, fell in love and married. Now in their golden years\, the couple grapples with creative fulfillment and their own mortalities. \n\n\n\nIf you can’t make it on Sept. 24\, Two Strangers will also show on five other occasions during this year’s Documentary Series.

DESCRIPTION:Watch this 1926 swashbuckler\, accompanied by a live original score\, at The Lindsay!\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPurchase Tickets Here!\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nThe Pittsburgh Silent Film Society returns to The Lindsay in September with a rollicking pirate adventure set on the high seas! \n\n\n\nThe Black Pirate will sail here on Sunday\, Sept. 27\, at 2 p.m.\, as part of the fourth annual Pittsburgh Silent Film Festival. This screening will be accompanied by a live original score\, courtesy of the locally based Thoth Trio. All tickets are available for $15 and will not be refundable. \n\n\n\nThe Black Pirate (1926) was directed by Albert Parker and stars Douglas Fairbanks as the titular swashbuckler who embarks on a perilous revenge mission against the marauders who killed his father. \n\n\n\nA young nobleman’s life changes forever after a ruthless Pirate Captain sinks his vessel and maroons him on a deserted island. He eventually forms an alliance with fellow captives to fight back. As the Black Pirate\, he infiltrates the Pirate Captain’s ship\, engaging in daring sword fights and acrobatics.  \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThe film’s cast also includes Billie Dove as Princess Isobel; Anders Randolf as the Pirate Captain; Donald Crisp as the one-armed pirate MacTavish; and Sam De Grasse as the Pirate Lieutenant. \n\n\n\nThe Pittsburgh Silent Film Festival is showing a 4K technicolor restoration of The Black Pirate. It was restored by The Museum of Modern Art and The Film Foundation in Cooperation with the British Film Institute. Funding was provided by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association\, with special thanks to Alexander Payne. \n\n\n\nFor some 25 years\, the Thoth Trio has been a force in Pittsburgh’s creative music community. Described as “intense jazz”\, Thoth shows are dynamic and bring in elements of both traditional and free jazz. The group includes reedist Ben Opie\, bassist Paul Thompson and drummer David Throckmorton. \n\n\n\nThis Black Pirate screening kicks off the 2026 Pittsburgh Silent Film Festival\, taking place across multiple locations from Sunday\, Sept. 27 through Sunday\, Oct. 4. Previous Silent Film Festival events at The Lindsay have included 1920’s The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari in 2023\, 1924’s The Hands of Orlac in 2024 and the original 1925 Ben-Hur last year.

DESCRIPTION:Experience this touching drama about a young man with epilepsy and meet the film’s director! \n\n\n\n\n\n\nPurchase Tickets Here!\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nThe Lindsay is partnering with the Epilepsy Association of Western and Central Pa. for a special showing of a moving film and a chance to meet its extraordinary director in person. \n\n\n\nUnder the Lights follows Sam (Pearce Joza)\, a teenager living with epilepsy. Sam so desperately wants to feel normal that he’s willing to risk everything for an unforgettable shot at prom\, first love and one night of real freedom—even knowing that all those flashing lights could trigger a seizure. \n\n\n\nWriter-director Miles Levin’s film will play at The Lindsay on Sunday\, Oct. 18\, at 1 p.m. Tickets are on sale for $6.50 each and include admission to the film\, one small popcorn and a fountain drink. Levin will be at the Theater for a live Q&A after the screening and post-show meet-and-greet. \n\n\n\n“People with epilepsy are rarely portrayed on screen in ways that feel authentic and relatable\,” says Levin. “Under the Lights tells a very human story about wanting to belong\, finding independence and navigating a life that others may not fully understand.” \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nUnder the Lights was originally a short film also written and directed by Levin. The short screened in Pittsburgh four years ago as part of Film Pittsburgh’s 2022 ReelAbilities festival. \n\n\n\nThe feature-length version of Under the Lights also stars Joza (Disney’s Zombies franchise) as Sam alongside an expanded cast that includes Tanzyn Crawford (A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms)\, Lake Bell (Boston Legal)\, Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation)\, Randall Park (Fresh Off the Boat)\, Mark Duplass (The Morning Show) and Marin Hinkle (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel). \n\n\n\nUnder the Lights depicts epilepsy beyond its physical symptoms. Levin’s film explores friendship\, independence\, acceptance and the desire to live life on your own terms—experiences that are both deeply personal and universal. \n\n\n\n“We want people to come see this extraordinary film\, meet Miles\, and become part of a larger movement to increase understanding and awareness of epilepsy\,” says Peggy Beem Jelley\, EAWCP’s president and CEO. “For families affected by epilepsy\, it is also a wonderful opportunity to see their experiences reflected on the big screen and to share that experience with others in our community.”
