The goal this time around: Find the island that connects other ocean tribes and defeat the ancient god who has been keeping it hidden from human detection. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAll tickets will be discounted to $8.75 for this special event.  \n\n\n\nThe Lindsay\, which pioneered sensory friendly screenings northwest of Pittsburgh in 2017\, schedules these showings to be the only events in the Theater and provides adequate staffing to create an enjoyable\, low stress atmosphere for all attending. \n\n\n\nTickets are available online and at the door. Please email the Theater if you are unable to attend because of ticket costs. \n\n\n\nSensory friendly screenings are specially designed for families who have children with special needs. The films are shown with lights up and volume down\, and patrons are free to move around the theater or talk during the screenings. SUMMARY:House of Tears World Premiere
DESCRIPTION:The Lindsay Theater and Cultural Center’s next Emerging Filmmakers Showcase\, House of Tears\, is a Western Pennsylvania-filmed murder mystery inspired by the classic board game Clue. \n\n\n\nHouse of Tears was written and directed by Bethel Park native Josh Poe. It’s set during a dinner party hosted by famous chocolate maker Vincent Loren (WTAE-TV reporter Sheldon Ingram). The 11 guests gathered at this secluded home are quickly forced to confront an unknown enemy seemingly intent on killing everyone in attendance. \n\n\n\n\nThe Lindsay’s House of Tears screening will take place on Thursday\, Dec. 12\, at 7 p.m. This free event will also include a Q&A with Poe and other members of the filmmaking team. House of Tears is already proving to be a particularly popular Emerging Filmmakers Showcase\, so anyone interested in checking this film out should RSVP asap. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“I wanted to premiere the movie close to home and always wanted to use The Lindsay for its classic theater feel\,” says Poe\, 25\, a Denison University graduate with a degree in commerce\, media and the arts. House of Tears began as a suggestion by a friend of Poe’s to make a short film involving a house. \n\n\n\n“I always loved the board game and movie Clue\,” says Poe. “So for my first foray into the horror genre\, I decided that I wanted to make a movie similar to that film\, but more horror-based.” \n\n\n\nThat initial idea eventually evolved into a script for a feature-length murder mystery. Poe and company filmed over the course of 14 days in two different homes\, including one belonging to the grandfather of a House of Tears crew member. \n\n\n\n“Since we wrapped in late winter\, we have been basically working on something every day for this film\,” says Poe. “Putting together this movie has been a ton of fun\, and I am so proud of each and everyone that helped us along the way because it is truly amazing to see the work pay off.” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn addition to Ingram\, House of Tears’ expansive cast also includes Payton Léger\, Delaney Hathaway\, Charles Mengine\, Shane Callahan\, Kelsey Rhea\, Duncan Jameson\, Amaru Williams\, Molly McDowell\, Spencer Samson\, Chris Storms\, David Nackman and Robert Scott.

DESCRIPTION:The Lindsay is excited to host this special showcase of short films created for the Yes We Cannes Global Film Competition and The Four Points Film Project–all created by filmmakers with roots in the Pittsburgh region.  \n\n\n\nThis program is presented by the Pittsburgh 48 Hour Film Project. Please note that the screening will be followed by a Q&A session with filmmakers in attendance. \n\n\n\nTickets are available through the Pittsburgh 48 Hour Film Project. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Yes We Cannes Global Film Competition is a special 48 Hour Film Project challenge reserved for the top filmmaking teams from around the world. One hundred seven teams representing 13 countries participated! From the 107 entries\, fifteen films will be selected to screen at Filmapalooza (a global grand finale awards festival for the 48 Hour Film Project) in March 2025 in Seattle\, Washington.  \n\n\n\nAt Filmapalooza\, it will be announced which eight films are selected to screen at the Cannes Film Festival Short Film Corner in May 2025. SUMMARY:Curtains for Christmas
DESCRIPTION:Reserve Tickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDo you enjoy mixing a little horror into your seasonal movie-watching? Then you’ve come to the right place! \n\n\n\nCurtains for Christmas follows a woman who will do whatever it takes to ensure her life is as perfect as the characters’ in her favorite holiday films. This locally filmed horror-comedy was directed by prolific Coraopolis-based filmmaker Steve Rudzinski and written by Rudzinski and Aleen Isley\, who also plays the leading role. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIsley and Rudzinski will premiere Curtains for Christmas regionally at The Lindsay Theater and Cultural Center on Thursday\, Dec. 19\, at 7:30 p.m. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Rudzinski\, Isley\, and attending cast and crew. This event is free\, but RSVPs are encouraged in advance due to space limitations. \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n“When an organization like The Lindsay Theater really does a lot to support movies and actively wants independent filmmakers to screen there\, I think it’s important to give that support back how I can and make sure I do at least my regional premieres at the theater\,” says Rudzinski. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRudzinski has earned an international following by directing at least one film a year since 2011. He’s known for independently produced horror romps like the CarousHELL Trilogy that played at The Lindsay earlier this year. Rudzinski had planned to take 2024 off\, but that changed after Isley “came up with a really great idea with a really great title.” \n\n\n\n“It’s our first totally new intellectual property in seven years\, yet still feels like exactly what my fans have come to love\,” says Rudzinski. “We may take a look at the holiday through maybe a less wholesome lens\, but even as we skewer seasonal obsession\, it’s still done with genuine loving homage for the holiday and the films that helped inspire this.” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn Rudzinski’s experience\, Christmas horror is a “super fun genre that feels like it doesn’t have as many entries as I would like to see.” That’s why he was excited to mobilize the Pittsburgh film scene—including frequent on-screen collaborators like Isley\, Michael Varrati\, Jessa Flux\, Jess Uhler\, Andrew Gordon and Sewickley native David Dietz—for a little holiday-themed horror. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“There are a lot of great creators and performers in this region\, and a film like this helps display a very small portion of that creativity and talent\,” says Rudzinski. “It shows how folks outside of the larger studio system can put together some really unique and creative takes on multiple genres without needing to break the bank.”
