Sensory Friendly Screening of Minions: The Rise of Gru
Next Sensory Friendly Screening on Saturday, July 9!
Minions: The Rise of Gru

What: The latest film in the Minion series–Minions: The Rise of Gru—will be shown in a sensory friendly screening. The animated film (PG, 1 hr 27 min), a big attraction nationwide and at the Theater, shares the story of Gru as a preteen, trying his heartfelt best, with the help of his Minion crew, to become one of the world’s supervillains.
Those “little roly-poly yellow henchmen, despite literally being designed to assist the baddest of the bad guys, can’t help but elicit ‘awww’ after ‘awww,’ ” says IndieWire. “The chattering Minions delight, the evil supervillain group at its center have hilarious skills and names, and there’s more disco jams on repeat than anyone could reasonably expect.”
CNN Entertainment calls “a kind of slap-happy Three Stooges for our times to appeal to kids’ sillier sides.” ABC News concurs and adds that Minions: The Rise of Gru “is nothing if not a chance for the kid in all of us to shake our sillies out without shame or apology.”
When: Saturday, July 9, at 10:30 a.m.
How: As per the Theater’s usual protocols, the film will be screened as the sole event in the building without previews, with volume lowered and, throughout the show, dim house lights on and exit doors open. Staffing levels will allow an unhurried, personalized experience for each patron.
Admission: Tickets are available online and at the door: $11 for general admission, discounted to $8.75 for seniors 65+, children 10 and younger, college students and military with IDs, and groups of 10 or more.
Parking: Metered parking is available in the Green Street lot next to the Theater and on the street.
We hope you can watch with us!
