Sewickley movie theater’s name change honors a star gone too soon
A “Good News” feature on the Theater’s name change extensively quotes Alexis Corry Kappel about the compassion of her late sister, Lindsay, and her love of the arts, along with the family’s goals for its foundation to invest in the community. Kappel, a Sewickley business owner and Chamber of Commerce member, explained the family had visited the Theater several times together and “felt it was a good fit for our family foundation…We wanted to give back to the community and we felt that doing that through the theater was a really great way.” Kappel noted her sister was a photographer and “really, really passionate about the arts.”
The article noted no new signage is on the building exterior, but many signs inside the lobby and on the movie screens denote The Lindsay Theater and Cultural Center. The week’s film programming was listed, with film festivals and other community events planned for the year.
