Until We Meet Again

This tender short film pays tribute to Joshua Hamilton, director Darrel Pullie’s late best friend.

Until We Meet Again is a 21-minute short film about a man trying to process his complicated emotions following a sudden loss.

Director and co-writer Darrel Pullie made the film to honor Joshua Hamilton, his late best friend who “was like the younger brother I never had.” Hamilton was only 19 years old upon his unexpected death in 2022.

The Lindsay’s latest Emerging Filmmakers Showcase will take place on Thursday, May 22, at 7:15 p.m. The evening’s program will also include a Q&A with Pullie; one other locally made short; and trailers for six upcoming projects with regional ties. Tickets are free, but RSVPs are recommended in advance due to space limitations.

“This film was my way of grieving, healing and honoring the beautiful, kind-hearted soul he was,” Pullie says. “Every frame is filled with love and remembrance.”

In addition to Until We Meet Again, this program will feature a screening of Matthew Diulus’ short film Gnome$ and trailers for Pullie’s next film, Game Changer; American Deadbeats, from Cleveland-based Conrad Studios; Mark Cantu’s Grind; and three films from Jamie Lockhart—including The Monte Carlo, which was recently accepted into the 2025 French Riviera Film Festival.

Until We Meet Again stars Charlie Gray as August, who is mourning the death of Damien (Amaru Williams) due to gun violence. Everyone in Damien’s life is devastated by his sudden passing. August feels that he could have done more to prevent Damien’s fate and spends much of Until We Meet Again working through his survivor’s guilt.

The film also stars Stephanie Swift and Rick Dutrow as Damien’s parents; Sierra Mitchell as Damien’s fiancé; Amy Lyn Elliott as August’s kindly therapist; and several other recognizable Pittsburgh faces—and voices.

“This film is a testament to the incredible talent in Pittsburgh’s indie film scene,” Pullie says. “We’re a community that uplifts one another, and Until We Meet Again was only made possible through the collaboration, passion, and dedication of our local cast and crew. It shows what can happen when artists in Pittsburgh come together to tell a story that matters.”

Pullie hopes that audiences walk away from Until We Meet Again “feeling the power of friendship, the pain of loss and the beauty of holding on to someone’s memory.”

“More than anything,” he continues, “I want people to be reminded to cherish those they love — and never take a single moment for granted.”
