Chasing Childhood

Kick off spring with the documentary Chasing Childhood and a local youth organization fair!

April 13 @ 1:00 pm 3:30 pm

The Lindsay is celebrating parents on April 13 with an exclusive documentary screening and fair dedicated to them and their kiddos.

Sewickley Unplugged’s Spring Kickoff event will take place at The Lindsay on Sunday, April 13, from 1-3:30 p.m. It will include a screening of the documentary Chasing Childhood from 1-2:30 p.m. and a local youth organizations fair from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Tickets are currently on sale for $11 each.

Sewickley Unplugged is a group of local parents and community members dedicated to promoting outdoor play and healthy relationships with technology for Sewickley’s children.

Chasing Childhood is an 80-minute documentary in which filmmakers Margaret Munzer Loeb and Eden Wurmfeld speak with psychologists, activists and leaders of the “free play” movement about their passion for allowing kids to have less curated childhoods.

Their film currently boasts a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. “The movie provides an engaging look at the struggles of children and parenting in the modern age,” raves Film Threat.

“Any parent nervous about striking the right balance between encouraging creativity and ambition while also fostering independence will find plenty of food for thought in Chasing Childhood,” declares the Alliance of Women Film Journalists.

This Chasing Childhood screening is an adults-only event. Sewickley Unplugged will provide off-site childcare for anyone in need.

The accompanying fair will give parents an opportunity to learn about regular services and activities for kids in the Sewickley area and what these organizations have planned this summer. Check back soon for more information on participating organizations.
