The Lindsay Theater and Cultural Center is capping off April’s trifecta of Emerging Filmmaker Showcases with a (red)slate of four extremely different shorts.
RedSlate Films—a Pittsburgh-based production company founded in 2019 by Brian Ceponis, Jesse Hutchins and Brian Kadlecik—returns to The Lindsay on Wednesday, April 23, at 7 p.m. for a Shorts Showcase featuring a few RedSlate staples, one world premiere and a proof-of-concept short they hope to soon flesh out into a feature project.
Ceponis and Hutchins will participate in a Q&A following the screenings. The Lindsay’s third Emerging Filmmakers Showcase of April is a free event, but RSVPs are recommended in advance due to space limitations.
The RedSlate Films Shorts Showcase will include screenings of:
• War Between States (18 mins): A Civil War colonel comes face to face with a Confederate soldier during the Battle of Gettysburg.
• Luminous Dreams (19 mins): A small, single-screen theater is saved from permanent closure when a stranger in town for business presents an unexpected solution.
• Blowback (16 mins): A world premiere screening! After a school shooting, a high school principal must come to grips with the fallout of this tragic event.
• A Quiet Town (36 mins): After a botched bank heist, things begin to spiral out of control for one man desperately trying to leave his life of crime behind. “We’ve got top-notch talent in that” proof-of-concept short, says Ceponis.
“There’s absolutely something for everyone in terms of the moviegoing audience,” Ceponis continues. “We’re just happy to get RedSlate’s name out there and show folks what we’re capable of doing.”
Adds Hutchins: “We love working with The Lindsay Theater as they are the perfect partner for independent filmmakers. The folks at The Lindsay are very accommodating, and they provide a beautiful venue for us to screen our films.”
