From spiked cider to postmodern jazz: 9 local musts to seek out before winter ends
The Lindsay hosts an Oscar contest in which patrons guess which movies will be nominated. Whoever’s ballot is closest wins a full year of unlimited free movies, said Lindsay CEO Carolina Thor.
“That’s something that’s worth leaving the house for—knowing that so many films people may have missed throughout the year and that are now nominated for the Oscars,” she said. “And making a point to watch as many as possible and complete the Oscar ballot.”
But even if you don’t follow the movie industry that closely, Thor said it’s a great way to get warm and connect.
“After the holiday season, there’s always the doldrums of winter and short days,” she said. “I think that a lot of people, they go to the movies for seeking connectivity, seeking that sense of community, of communal experience that, at the movies, they can find instead of just watching a film at home alone.”
