Pittsburgh-Set ‘Strange Angels’ Reflects the Boxing Days of Lawrenceville Native
Ernest Keegan has now authored a slew of books and screenplays informed by his experience with Pittsburgh’s boxing scene he had while growing up as an amateur boxer in the 1960s.
One of those books has been made into the pilot of the Pittsburgh-set Strange Angels, directed by Brookline native Jameson Quinn (writer of the 2018 boxing short Sandman). The 40-minute episode explores the world of boxing through the eyes of Marylou Caponi, who inherits her father’s boxing gym in a modern-day Pittsburgh, and head trainer, Dan McClain (played by Quinn).
The episode is having its public premiere at The Lindsay Theater and Cultural Center on Thursday, Aug. 21.
