As families prepared for back-to-school in 2023, The Lindsay team brainstormed to create an educational opportunity for adults, leading to its inaugural Documentary Series at the start of the academic year.
The first time around, inquisitive patrons soaked in the details of topics such as concert promotion, the coal culture, the impact of civic involvement, the art of fly fishing, and Barbie’s rise, fall and rebound—with the added benefit of Q&A sessions with directors and producers.
The second Documentary Series in 2024 built on the previous year’s model, with conversations between filmmakers and audiences including modern American pioneers, bourbon-making traditions and tastings, new agriculture techniques, global female entrepreneurship, Pittsburgh’s own groundbreaking EMT service that became a national model, and more.
Every fall, this new life-long learning program will present documentaries and bring their makers to The Lindsay (virtually and in-person) to discuss their passions with curious audiences.
If you’re interested in attending, check the lineup late every August. If you or your company are interested in learning about sponsorship of this signature series, please email hello@thelindsaytheater.org for details.
