Sewickley Valley Historical Society presents: ‘The American Revolution’
Watch a shorter version of Ken Burns’ riveting new PBS docuseries on the big screen!

The Lindsay is partnering with the Sewickley Valley Historical Society to put Ken Burns’ latest docuseries on the big screen.
We’re showing a 45-minute version of The American Revolution, Burns’ critically acclaimed PBS series about the war for American independence, on Thursday, Feb. 26, at 7 p.m. Tickets are now on sale for $8.75 each.
This screening will be followed by a virtual Q&A with Dr. Holly Mayer, a professor emerita of history at Duquesne University and author of multiple books about colonial America.
The American Revolution examines how America’s founding turned the world upside-down. Thirteen British colonies on the Atlantic Coast rose in rebellion, won their independence, and established a new form of government that radically reshaped the continent and inspired centuries of democratic movements around the globe.
The American Revolution currently has a 96% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes. It joins other Burns-created docuseries about pivotal domestic and international conflicts such as 1990’s The Civil War, 2007’s The War (about Americans fighting in World War II) and 2017’s The Vietnam War.
The Sewickley Valley Historical Society is celebrating the United States’ 250th birthday by showing three thematically linked films at The Lindsay in 2026. The American Revolution will kick off this series.
It will be followed by history-based musical 1776 on Thursday, March 26, at 6:30 p.m. This series’ grand finale will be sci-fi comedy The Spirit of ’76 on Thursday, April 30, at 7 p.m.
