Allegheny Sport & Outdoor is a Pittsburgh-based film festival celebrating sport, outdoor culture and adventure documentary films with a special emphasis on stories from Western Pennsylvania, Northern Appalachia and the Mid-Atlantic region.
Founded in 2023, ASOFF showcases talented athletes, teams, and outdoor clubs alongside passionate local and international filmmakers.
This program showcases four documentaries: “We Ride” (65 min.), following three cyclists from Pittsburgh Youth Leadership endeavoring to cycle across America; “To Be The Man” (3 min.), which focuses on Michael “Gagz” Gagliardi’s battle for a 5th consecutive win at the Loopy Looper 12-hour Endurance Race; “10 Years of First Waves” (9 min.), celebrating the 10th anniversary of this program (a project of the Western PA-based org, The Watersmith Guild) that empowers youth through activities including river surfing, environmental education, and community engagement; and “Heaven on Earth” (15 min.), featuring Pittsburgh’s Highland Park Tennis Club--which has been offering free summer lessons since 2000 to promote the sport--in preparation for the 2023 season.
