Cryptids

A feature-length horror/comedy anthology love letter to creature features, “Cryptids” takes place in a radio station during a paranormal call-in show (The Truth Serum) hosted by Major Harlan Dean (played by famed drive-in movie critic Joe Bob Briggs). When Dean opens the phone lines to discuss cryptozoology, each caller’s story–involving legends such as Bigfoot, Loveland Frogman, chupacabras, the Beast of Bladenboro, Dover Demon, the Mothman and others–is more bizarre than the last, and Dean questions if real dangers lurk outside the station. Produced by Zane Hershberger, Justin Seaman and Simon Lustenberger, with segments directed by William “Jonny” Holt, Robert Kuhn, Brett DeJager, Billy Pon, Max Groah, Hershberger, and Seaman. The film has earned accolades on the festival circuit including Best FX (Feature) and Best Horror Feature at GenreBlast 2023, and Jury Award from the 2024 Crimson Screen Horror Film Festival. Part of The Lindsay’s Emerging Filmmakers Showcase series, the 85-minute screening will be followed by a Q&A session with the filmmakers. This event is free to the public but reservations are recommended as space is limited.
