Film Pittsburgh presents: ‘Two Women’

May 12 @ 7:30 pm 9:30 pm

The Lindsay is partnering with local nonprofit Film Pittsburgh and independent film studio Joint Venture for an exclusive screening of an exciting Canadian comedy.

Two Women follows struggling young mothers Violette (Laurence Leboeuf) and Florence (Karine Gonthier-Hyndman) on their quests to live fulfilled and liberated lives. This raunchy affair is a remake of the 1970 Canadian comedy Two Women in Gold. Catherine Legér wrote a modernized stage version of Two Women in Gold before adapting her own play into a film script.

This special screening will take place at The Lindsay on Tuesday, May 12, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are free, and we recommend RSVPing via the below signup form due to space limitations. Note: Two Women will be presented in French with English subtitles.

Chloé Robichaud directed this cinematic update about neighbors Violette and Florence, who bond over the ennui of parenthood. They realize that the solution to reviving their joie de vivre may be in listening to their libidos. As the two start finding sex in unexpected places, they examine the larger unfulfilled needs that brought them to their current moment, and choose to pursue a life of joy over compromise.

Two Women was shot in Montreal, Quebec, during spring 2024. It premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival, where it also won a Special Jury Award for Writing. The Sundance Jury applauded the film’s “courageous exploration of female desire, its joyful and comedic tone, and its fearless, complex characters.”

Robichaud’s remake is “a frothy, sexy, thoroughly hilarious comedy about that eternal seven-year itch,” raves RogerEbert.com. “Two Women successfully revamps an old Quebecoise classic with a formidable interpretation,” declares Next Best Picture.

Adds Collider: “Chloé Robichaud’s fourth feature film is a fun and sexy romp. … The film takes a non-judgmental approach to serious topics without devolving into melodrama. Lead performances from Karine Gonthier-Hyndman and Laurence Labeouf are fantastic.”
