Soldiers to Veterans Showcase
October 25 @ 2:00 pm
The Lindsay’s first October Emerging Filmmakers Showcase highlights U.S. Army soldiers and veterans who have pursued careers in filmmaking, both during and outside their time in the military.
The 6 Shop Films returns to The Lindsay for this unique event featuring the work of U.S. Army National Guardsmen representing West Virginia’s 153rd Public Affairs Detachment. The Pittsburgh-based production company will show a selection of short documentaries and narrative films produced by veterans operating both behind the scenes and in front of the camera.
The Soldiers to Veterans Showcase will take place at The Lindsay on Sunday, Oct. 25, at 2 p.m. The screenings will immediately be followed by a filmmaker Q&A. Tickets are free, and we recommend RSVPing in advance via the below sign-up form due to space limitations.
“This event will bring to light and celebrate a world of filmmaking to those that may not know that we serve with not just a rifle, but a camera and lens,” says Davis Rohrer, 6 Shop’s founder and director. “It’s a night for a category of filmmakers rarely thought of: military filmmakers.”
Rohrer is a New Jersey native, West Virginia University graduate and military veteran. He has filmed many advertisements, news packages, documentaries, training videos, live events and more during his 13 years in the Army National Guard. The current Pittsburgh resident was last at The Lindsay in August 2025 to screen a few of his short films, including the sci-fi thriller Trial 54.
The 6 Shop has been making documentary, commercial and narrative films for more than 12 years. Alongside their client work, they operate with a nonprofit mission dedicated to supporting military veterans and active service members who aspire to build careers in filmmaking.
“Across all branches of the military are individuals with a deep passion for storytelling through the medium of filmmaking,” Rohrer says. “Some are still serving today, while others have hung up the uniform. Their stories tell a history of the warriors who have served our country.”
