‘Under the Lights’ Special Showing
Experience this touching drama about a young man with epilepsy and meet the film’s director!

The Lindsay is partnering with the Epilepsy Association of Western and Central Pa. for a special showing of a moving film and a chance to meet its extraordinary director in person.
Under the Lights follows Sam (Pearce Joza), a teenager living with epilepsy. Sam so desperately wants to feel normal that he’s willing to risk everything for an unforgettable shot at prom, first love and one night of real freedom—even knowing that all those flashing lights could trigger a seizure.
Writer-director Miles Levin’s film will play at The Lindsay on Sunday, Oct. 18, at 1 p.m. Tickets are on sale for $6.50 each and include admission to the film, one small popcorn and a fountain drink. Levin will be at the Theater for a live Q&A after the screening and post-show meet-and-greet.
“People with epilepsy are rarely portrayed on screen in ways that feel authentic and relatable,” says Levin. “Under the Lights tells a very human story about wanting to belong, finding independence and navigating a life that others may not fully understand.”
Under the Lights was originally a short film also written and directed by Levin. The short screened in Pittsburgh four years ago as part of Film Pittsburgh’s 2022 ReelAbilities festival.
The feature-length version of Under the Lights also stars Joza (Disney’s Zombies franchise) as Sam alongside an expanded cast that includes Tanzyn Crawford (A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms), Lake Bell (Boston Legal), Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation), Randall Park (Fresh Off the Boat), Mark Duplass (The Morning Show) and Marin Hinkle (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel).
Under the Lights depicts epilepsy beyond its physical symptoms. Levin’s film explores friendship, independence, acceptance and the desire to live life on your own terms—experiences that are both deeply personal and universal.
“We want people to come see this extraordinary film, meet Miles, and become part of a larger movement to increase understanding and awareness of epilepsy,” says Peggy Beem Jelley, EAWCP’s president and CEO. “For families affected by epilepsy, it is also a wonderful opportunity to see their experiences reflected on the big screen and to share that experience with others in our community.”
